For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by TJsMom SHIP 03 DIV 021 on November 24, 2013 at 9:18pm: I just got a call! DIV 21. Just now! What a welcome surprise! He said they are still Hall of Fame, but 1 point could take that away, so here's hoping no one does anything to mess that up!

He played volleyball in the Captains Cup and his team won it all so he was happy about that. He loves VB!

He said they have free time now. But his RDC does not allow them to go to recruit heaven. He was calling from the NEX. He is very excited to see us.

I cant wait!!!

Happy some are there now, safe travels everyone, and blue candles for those going thru BS!!

I called the Gateway Hotel and they we're very helpful to ease some of my anxiety as well. Thank you so much for your suggestions on Thanksgiving swsal528 and proud mom of Kayla. I will definitely explore those options. I also found out that my husband reserved a suite at the hotel so we will have a small kitchen that I can also work with.

SherryB ..... so excited to see your post. We are originally from the Bay Area also! We are leaving for Il out of SF Tuesday am as well. Sent you a friend request ... perhaps we will be on same flight out.
