Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

callsforrecruits calling cards work well. I sent 7 with my son, he used 4 of them on Sat. He was aloud to talk for over 45 min. He talked to me for 30, his girlfriend for 15 and then tried calling his sister, but she didn't answer. I e-mailed callsforrecruits and he sent me 8 more to send to my SR. I would recommend anyone to get those for free. They worked great.

ABitofWhimsey, The only person who can tell you exactly what week and day your SR is on is your SR. Write and ask him/her to tell you the date and what week/day they are on for training. :) You can then count forward from there.

@diannep- Would today be 2.3 (week 2 day 3)? Thanks

OMGosh, diannep. What a detailed description of their daily schedule. Thank you. When I have some time, I will be reading that- up to now and then daily to feel like I am keeping up. Thanks again!

Comment by ellen0502 on October 16, 2013 at 4:27pm

There are rumblings in the 11/15 group about their SRs changing ships too, they are also currently in Ship 12. I am guessing they are closing down Ship 12 for maintenance, or sizing down the number of ships open around the holidays. It is not unusual for Ships to change during BC.

If your son said Ship 04 that is probably correct, and I would go with that. :)

HAAA!  Well, Payce, I think I'm starting to forget more than I know, but I'm trying!  My almost 4 yrs of being on these groups may be helping a little!

EnragedTurtle:  If he called and gave you a new address, I would use it.  Has anyone else on here in Div 027 been given a new address, ladies???  Sounds like the division was moved to new barracks...that happens often.
