N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

If there are any Cracker Barrel's there, they make a good Thanksgiving dinner that you can buy for take out. I happen to have family that live in downtown Chicago and if our SR is allowed to go that far, that is our plan. Otherwise, I will be trying to find a Cracker Barrel close by.

I see comments about driving in but, what about flying in. From Texas, are there any suggestions considering it is the busiest traveling day of the year?

I heard from my son yesterday and I burst into happy tears right after the call. Excited for their journey!

The Kitchen's in the Navy lodge have a small 4 burner cook top and no oven.  They should have a table setting for 4 and a very limited number pots and pans.  From what I read, there is a Walmart close by to get paper plates.  For anyone looking to do Thanksgiving in the hotel room, I would look up local grocery stores  as they may sell cooked complete Thanksgiving dinners and between the small cook top and the microwave, you should be able to heat everything up.

We are good with either as well. I have a Turkey roaster and we are drivibg so I could bring it. It holds up to a 30 pound bird.

@ diannep: CONGRATULATIONS on your new grandson!  My first grandchild was just born in July and there is nothing sweeter! I know you will enjoy him!

I am game for either direction Thanksgiving Day is taken. I will be going online this week to determine area churches; our family grew up in the church (that's what happens when your mother is church organist!) and it just doesn't feel like Thanksgiving without church.  Might be neat to do snack stuff for a get together. I will have a kitchen in our room as well, so am open to anything!
