Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you for responding Mom4son!  The hotel is Navy Gateway Inn and it says it's "on base".

Just feels like family now :)

We're so close now! Can't believe I only have one more day before I fly out!

Was going to work tomorrow but thinking I need to just take the day off. I need to make sure hubby has food to get by this week and I need to finish packing. It's not like I can focus on much else anyway.....ha

HA, mom4son . . .

You sound like a genuine veteran navy mom ;-)

Also, no phone call for us, either :-( I was really hoping.

FLsailormom. Hubs told me both 25 and 26 were supposed to go to recuit heaven today at the same time they did yesterday. No word so I take it something happened and they didn't.
I wouldn't count on a call today considering what time it is now, but we never know!

Hi DrDsMom. Welcome. If you need it, I'm sure some vet moms will give you some ideas of where to eat. There has been A LOT of talk on the subject. Some are buying the meals from stores and eating their rooms, others are going out.

Not sure about the "hotel on site" you referred to? There are a few of us staying at the Navy Lodge which about a mile from the base. Some rooms have kitchenettes.

Also there is another group link on the top of this page for your particular ship and div. There you can meet families that have SR's on the same ship.

This site takes a little getting used to but it's a GREAT place to chat and get information and support. Also check out the "links" above under Events for more information. Such as Sarge's Meet & Greet. Many of us are going to that as well to get acquainted and get information regarding the graduation etc.

Anyone hear from 025 today? Was hoping they would get to go to recruit heaven today.

New to sight.  FINALLY figured out how to post. Son is Ship 13 Div 29 going to Corpsman A School in Texas.  We are from California coming to Illinois on Tuesday for Wed PIR.   We finally got a snafu cleared up with my background check and are staying at the hotel on site.  Is that the one everyone refers to as the Navy Lodge?  I am stressing out big time trying to figure out dinner reservation info for Thursday.  Husband has been (thankfully) handling all of our arrangements but when I asked him this morning what we are doing for Thursday dinner this morning he said "I don't know. We'll just figure something out when we get there."  Um, honey....I don't think that's a good idea....IT'S THANKSGIVING DAY!!!!  Ugggggh.   Stress level that was already way high just shot through the roof.  On verge of tears.   Can't navigate this site worth beans.  Don't even know if I'm posting this in the right place.

Finally received a call from my son.  He is a SAILOR now!  I am so proud!  Looking forward to the graduation!!!

Nice call from our son (804 at ricky heaven), even if not very long.  Tensions are running higher now that they are not busy 24/7... interesting.  Bummed on lack of workouts but all is ok.  He is psyched to see us in just a few days.

Wishing traveling grace to everyone headed to Great Lakes over the next few days! Congrats to you and your new Sailor! For those who will attend, see you at the Sarge's Meet & Greet. You ladies in this site ROCK!!!!! :-) On another note---Does anyone have a Sailor going to Yeoman A School?
