Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks for the welcome's if that's how it's spelled.  I answer any questions I can, but by no means do I know it all.  ( don't tell my wife that)  We went to Sarges meet and greet last time, it was good and it was right across the street from our hotel.  I can't wait to do this again.  Graduation is one of those things you have to experience yourself.  You can't explain it to anyone.

Welcome, Toolmantaylor!  Our kids are in the same division.

Diannep, your information and support - along with that of the other veteran parents - are invaluable!!  Thank you!!

Reading through this site and being able to ask you veteran moms (and dads) questions has been keeping me sane. Thank you diannep! Thank you all.

We welcome all of you from Navy for Dads here!  Welcome, Toolmantaylor!  Love the screen name....Tim Allen's voice is running through my head now....LOVED Home Improvement!  :-)  Since you are a N4Moms/Dads veteran already having a sailor (congrats!), you may be able to answer some questions on there when the ladies ask.  I'm one of the N4Moms veterans helping out here on the PIR groups since early 2010.  My son has actually now been honorably discharged....but I can't seem to leave this site!  Hmmm....

Welcome!

Welcome Toolmantaylor!

I know this is Navy for Moms, but there is more activity over here than on Navy for Dads.  We just got our letter today Ship 04 Div 803.  this is actually our second time around for this, our oldest son graduated about a year ago.  It's not any easier.

Thank you, diannep. If this is my SR's second Sunday there, is this the usual time that they will be able to write? Or the following Sunday? Thanks

Comment by diannep on October 10, 2013 at 2:24pm

AbitofWhimsy:  They usually are given their first mail on a Sunday and they can write then.  Mailout day will always be Monday.

Comment by diannep on October 10, 2013 at 2:22pm

None of the sailors will leave on Wed....they don't leave on PIR day.  Sometimes they are bussed to the airport very late on PIR night to wait for flights that begin the next day....but they don't actually leave on PIR Day.  Remember, Wed will be a very heavy travel day because of Thanksgiving...so it would be very hard to get flights for all of the sailors anyway.
