~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So, if he's assigned a ship number, he's not in some kind of hold division??
Oh, incomplete address. I would bet if you called the recruiter back tomorrow (if you don't have the form letter) they will have a more complete address for your SR. All of those numbers just identify the ship. There should be numbers after that that include 2013 and a letter (probably M, F or I). You could ask if there are numbers after that, because usually if assigned a ship number they should have a division, otherwise it would still be Ship 001 or the Pearl Harbor I would think.
Ship 13=USS Marvin Shields
(ff-1066)= The ship number of the actual ship (FF=Frigate)
7112=The building number on base
You all only need the Ship #
I got the address for Marvin Shields followed by... his ship name is 13 uss marvin g shields (ff-1066)7112. I still haven't been home to see if his form letter is in the mailbox, keeping fingers and toes crossed. I did get his KIB and rather than be upset, it was exciting. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I do know he wasn't the only SR On his flight.
Blstz822, What address exactly did you get from the recruiter (leave the name out)? We may be able to sort it, and maybe not, but it is worth a shot
Dianne: oops, lol! Gotta love auto correct! Nice to meet you. I'm so glad this site is here. It's a bit more comforting knowing that people I'm connecting with have sons/daughters who are with mine.
Bethin: I'm hoping it comes soon, too! I met the mailman today and warned him that I'd be stalking him the next few weeks! I hope your day is good today, with more ups than downs :-) And I'm kind of hoping one of our divisions is wrong and our guys are together!
I can't wait to send and get letters!
SHIP 04 DIV 803
I GOT MY LETTER TODAY!!!!! PIR IS 11/27/2013
WE ARE SHIP 3 DIV 22
Does anyone else have a ship of 13? I know my address from the recruiter is different, that I need to wait for the form letter, and I will before I start mailing him letters, but here's my fear .... That he's in a "hold" until a division fills up, that it will be another week before I get a letter from him, another week before he can call, another week later for PIR. I am literally in tears and panicking. I know it's irrational, but I can't help it.
Terrii, I would put the postcards in an envelope, since a postcard is available for "all to see". Postcards can be an easy "source" for the RDCs. :)
