N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ship 2 Div 903 according to the recruiter :) Sure do hope he is correct as letters have already been sent! Can't wait for the phone call...it has been a tough first week. Veteran moms....what is the thought on postcards? Should they be put in an envelope? I had some photos made into postcards. Nothing embarrassing. Pets, brothers playing sports, recruit with family... What do you think?

clairee:  Maybe if you slip a picture (copy/scan on the back of your letters or on a separate sheet to save storage space for them and not attract "thick letter" attention...which makes them have to open mail in front of RDCs)...into your letters...he will really look forward to not only reading your letter, but seeing some memorable piks!   :-)

Good Morning!

Did you all know that the PIR service is Livestreamed for those who cannot be there?  Check out the LIVESTREAM discussion under the "pages" section above/to the right under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX.

For those traveling to GL with more people than allowed on RTC (it will be either 3 or 4 guests per sailor, determined by the number of divisions in this PIR group...we don't know yet)....it is a great option for them.  Many of the hotels will livestream the PIR service in a conference room or the lobby ....or...all can watch on their personal computers.

Thank you, thank you to the veteran Moms giving all the information and support. I have learned so much from this webpage and have been put at ease. I really appreciate it!

clairee:  Mail to them is like "Christmas morning!" They can't wait for their name to be called during mail call!  So write often!

momm2five:  I am so glad to see another Ship 11 - I was worrying that my Ship 11 Div 025 could be wrong.... Recruiter told us PIR of 11/27, so am crossing fingers that this is also real.  Hopefully will get the box and/or form ltr this week, then I'll be able to let my breath go :)

@claire my sons ship 04 div 803 too. So happy to connect with loved ones on here!

momm2five:  "Shoulders" great PIR Day?  I think "autocorrect" is misbehaving again....HA!  I assume you meant "should be"....thanks for giving me my laugh for the morning!  Autocorrect sure does supply much-needed humor!

Welcome to the group!

Blstz:  You would need a division number to write to your SR.  Sounds like maybe that had not been finalized when the recruiter got the address?  Write your letters, but then hold them until you get the full address.  You may be able to check back with the recruiter later to see if the division number has now been added....however, remember...if possible, wait for the form letter for the address.  Sometimes the recruiter's address is not correct, or they were moved.  Although letters may get to them eventually, it takes longer if the address is incorrect...so best to wait for the form letter and then slap the address on them and mail as a group!

The SRs do not get to write or receive mail for about the first 2 weeks they are there....they have to train the Recruit Mail Petty Officer first.  I know all want mail to be there when they finally are allowed this "held' mail...but please wait for the complete address!  After that, they can write/mail out once a week....mailed on Mondays.

I posted this in boot camp moms, too, but my son's recruiter just texted me his address and it has his ship number (13), but then DAC for division and there's an ff too.  Anybody have any clue????  I am starting to worry because it doesn't look like anyone else's.
