N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

meggie,  If your sailor does not have C School then he can do RAP after A School. Most/Many sailors who have C School do not get any leave between A School and C School.

momm2five, Unfortunately the recruiters and RDCs don't always have/know the correct information, can't answer as to why but... RAP is also not available during stand down, t can only be used on "regular leave".

For stand down during Christmas all sailors in school are encouraged to take leave. "Going into the hole" is not an issue, and they will make up any borrowed leave time very quickly. Your sailors need to take leave when they can!

My son was to have come home for Christmas in just a few days, but his leave is now up in the air due to Operation Damayan in the Phillipines. He may or may not get to come home now.

Tell your sailors to take it while it is a given...you never know!!!

Here are the links to the RAP program.

Pensacola moms -- as soon as our sailor is allowed weekend visitors, we will be heading to base, will let you know the dates. If any of you are concerned about shipping items to your sailors at the base, I would be more than happy to deliver for you if you want to ship to me. From everything I'm reading, shipping stuff to base is not a problem, but just thought I would offer anyway. My first delivery for ours will probably peanut butter oatmeal clusters :)

Proud Mom of Kayla -- isn't yours in IT? My son said they told him yesterday that they will find out Tuesday if they will class up next week or after the first of the year. Said they have too many for a class and some will have to wait for January. He's putting in for leave the week after Christmas, said he will get more days that way. Thankfully it's driving distance for us.

My son was told he could hhave RAP duty after A-school. :(

Really, ellen?! Why would they tell them that then? Mine was told at RTC about it and that he could use it for Christmas leave! Grrrrr . . . .

Comment by ellen0502 on December 4, 2013 at 9:32pm

FYI! RAP can only be used when on leave right before their permanent duty assignment not during school. :(

He has to buy the tickets himself, but from other times we have ordered tickets, I have seen where you can check a box online for military discount. its 10% :-)

Is your son at GL? If he is, they take the Metra to the train station. We live in Michigan, so our SN will get off at Lapeer.
