N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Mine is at GL, and was told the same thing about working for the recruiter. He will be doing that. Said he had a brief last night about leave, but I haven't heard from him today. He'll be taking the train (Amtrak) thank goodness. Not nearly as expensive as flying, and quicker than Greyhound.

Tjsmom, did you shake the poom poom start for me! Lol! My daughter is in Pensacola and doesn't start class until some time next week. She still doesn't know if she gets to come home for Christmas yet either.

Hey all... just thought I would share this.... my sons recruiter has said he can come back and "work" in the recruit office for them and it counts for work. The max is 5 days...any days, like over xmas! My son was talking about not coming home for xmas because he did not want to go in the negative for leave days. But now with this option, he would not go negative! They just give him a form to take back with them to be filed and counted. Hope this helps out some others! Be sure to ask your recruiter about it. My sailor is at Pensacola, and not starting up A school for who knows how long. I have heard all different times. So, he may as well come home, even though it is colder here.

My son said he put in for the 2nd leave period but doesn't know if approved yet but the flights are a little cheaper after Christmas so that's good. Just wish I knew so I could book before they jump... Good luck everyone and happy holidays!

Dang Barefoot... I think I'd be ringing a neck not knowing, but how special is that...  We booked our son's and did get the military discount $369... but the bummer is that you have to CALL to get the military discount (can't get it online) and then they charge you $25 for booking through the phone.  What a rip.. but he'll be home.  Definitely did NOT take the first flight out or the last flight back just in case of "issues."  Going through outside lights tonight (haven't done that in a decade) so it will be festive and fun for him.  Might be the last Christmas all together for a while (and his brother was in Spain for all last year so HE wasn't home).  Can't wait!!!

Mine is in GL; he does know when he'll get to come home for Christmas, but he is choosing NOT to tell me so he can just 'appear' lol - some things never change!

Diannep, thank you SO MUCH for your encouragement, support and guidance during boot camp!  Still seems strange we're now on the other side of it!

My son is in Pensacola and has not heard yet about Christmas.

Hi ladies. Are your sailors in Pensacola? Mine is in Gulfport and still waiting for approval. Hoping it will be soon before the fares go up too high. :/
