Hi Holly! Glad you know what you are doing on here, I'm back and forth and up and down! Ugh! :)
I made our own group but your the only friend I have so far. If you know other Moms in our Divison invite them to the group PIR 01/14/2011 Ship 12 Div 040
Well, I did try to invite the other lady I know, but it didn't work. I work 3rd shift and had to wait up today for my hubby to skin a deer and bring it home and then had to drop my truck off at the auto shop to get it's rear end fixed. Usually I am in bed 3 hours ago, so I'm poopered out! I will try again either before work or tomorrow morning! We'll get more! Take care.
Hi There! I feel so much better. I got my amtrak tickets booked and got the hotel booked for 3 days. My son is grad and go, so we plan on going to the airport to wait with him on Saturday until his departure. We'll get a good nights sleep and come back home on Sunday. I feel so accomplished-thank goodness for the internet. Now, to figure out how to get from Union Station to the Ramada Inn!! :)
I've heard that it's just a cab ride from Union Station to Great Lakes. We're staying at the Ramada too. I hope we can say hi at the meet and great. How long is the train ride from Houston?
I'm not from Houston, I'm from way Southern Illinois, only an hour from St. Louis, MO.
Rats, hit the button too quick! Our train ride there will be 4 1/2 hours. But, knowing the weather here, we don't want to take the chance of interstates being closed or anything else happening to stop us from arriving. It says Union Station is around 35 miles from the Ramada, I'm thinking that would be pretty expensive. I've been eyeing the Metra system, and it says it is only $5.50 one way! Not bad. Will just have to find the right station, it is .29 miles from union station and there are like 20 different metra stations there, so we have to find the UP-N (Union Pacific North Line). Not exactly sure which route to go for now, but the hard parts done so far!

We will definitely meet up that Thursday evening!! I can't wait.
Joyce
After we talked, I changed my mind about driving up. I'm really worried about getting there on time if there is a storm. My future daughter-in-law and I are going to drive from OKC to Newton KS. We'll get onboard Amtrak and arrive at Union Station at 3:15 in the afternoon on Jan 13. What time does your train arrive?
Hi Holly,
Our train leaves Centralia at 4:10 am. It is a 4 hour and 37 minute ride, so I figure we will get off the train and around Union Station around 9 am. By the time we find the metra system and ride it to Waukegan and then get a final taxi, hopefully we will be hitting there around 11-11:30 am. With check in at noon, that would be pretty cool. We'll trade cell phone #'s that day so that maybe after we go through things, I can call you and let you guys know what to do and what to expect. We'll be waiting for you at the hotel!!! I know what you mean about the weather, that is what scares me the most. We have to get back that weekend to go back to work, so it's not an option to get snowbound!!! I'm glad you are taking the safe route too!
Joyce
