Ship 12 Div 042 - That's us! Just made our airline reservation yesterday! Still a little up in the air about which hotel to choose . . . anybody have recommendations? Sorta leaning toward HI Express.
His family & I are staying at the Ramada Inn. They have a pool, hot tub, & offer a free shuttle to and from PIR. They also hold a meet & greet the night before the PIR!! The total for 1/13-1/17 was $350.
I really hope we get a letter soon, Im starting to lose my mind. I keep writing letters, but I'm running out of things to write!
Hang in there, Ash! There are ideas on N4M about letter writing - also on the internet in general. I keep an ongoing word document with ideas, quotes, pictures, funnies or things I have copied to send him sometime. I use them when there isn't much to say and then delete them so I remember I used them! I also copied into his letters emails and facebook messages friends and family sent me saying they were missing him or praying for him. Hope you get a letter soon!
I got the first real letter today. It was dated for the 21st, so they did get to write sunday. I am so thankful I got the letter today. I was having a very bad day, and the letter helped make it better! Their division has 83 men in it, pretty big, and I guess there are a few guys who are smart asses and causing them to get yelled at. Typical guys though. He sounded good, said not to worry. I hope you ladies get your letters today or friday!
Ash, NS said that your husband knew my son (her boyfriend)... I hope he's not one of the smart asses making everyone get yelled at! LOL He's usually not like that though. I think he respects authority... I always taught him to. (If he didn't before, he will NOW!) I hope they're friends....
I dont think he is, at least my husband didnt say so. My hubby said they have 3 RDC's and they give very simple directions, "Barney Style" haha but some guys just cant get it. He also said its hard to make friends when you have very very limited time to talk, but he knows who your son is, and Im sure they will talk now that they know I know NS and you! I hope our guys had a good thanksgiving!

49 days ladies!
For us ladies in this group, I think we should make Tshirts or wear a specific color to the Meet N Greet at the Ramada so we can easily pick each other out. Just a suggestion
I 100% agree!!! That is an awesome ideaa!!! LOVE IT!
I will look into this tshirt printer my brother in law uses for his business, we should start thinking of designs, I mean we will want the ship and div. on them and I was thinking last names on the back, but please give me suggestions, and if you are good on the computer, send graphics, etc. and then we can decide on a color!
I want to inform all of you of the rumor that is being spread all over Ship 12 Div.042. This division is rumored GRAD-N-GO. My husband good not say if that was 100% true, but sensed it was. He will keep me update. I can say I am devestated by that news, actually it broke my heart into a million pieces.

My hubby also said the div. took their swim test, physical test, and academic test. The div. has managed to get themselves yelled at a lot, and my hubby said one day they were all punished twice! An hour each time of pretty tough punishment, but it is to teach them to work as a team, which apparently some men aren't understanding.

He talked about the RDC's. there are three of them. 2 men and 1 women. He said their is a bald guy form West Virgina, he's older and my husband really likes him, The other man is of hispanic origin and the female he said is the toughest, but they all have times where they joke around, but can also yell pretty good.
Ash - I can imagine how sad you must be knowing your time will be so limited. My heart just breaks for you. If they aren't on a chartered plane you should at least be able to go to the airport and wait with him. And, you should be able to take him his cell phone, etc. Let's keep our fingers crossed that if he is grad & go it will be as late as possible!
