I am so sorry for your frustration - - and now I am frustrated also!!!! That is such a shame they have some undisciplined kids in their group - - so unfair to our boys! After those severe punishments, one would hope they'll smarten up and change their attitudes. I read on the other page that one other mom in our group got a phone call. I am so hopeful that I'll hear from my son today. I feel like I haven't talked to him for ten years!!!!!
I screamed when I saw pay phone show up on the caller I.D. It was so darn good to hear from R tonight!! He did complain about his division. He told us they had to do an hour and a half IT last night as a punishment. I think he was surprised at how much we already knew about what was going on. He doesn't even have to live here and we still can find out what is going on in his life - - love this website!!! Overall, he sounded good, which really makes me very relieved. I had been without RAOC for a little while - - it came on again very strong tonight.
LOL stewfam...I did the same thing (screamed when I saw "pay phone" show up)!! I wonder if they know each other ? :). That is what my son said too... they had to do 1 1/2 IT for punishment!! I am so glad you finally got your call!! Ask your son if he knows anyone from MN?!?!?!?

Thanks everyone!!

Cindy
I will def. ask him in my letter today about an SR from MN - - that would be really neat! And you can ask your son if he met anyone from PA. My son said he has become buddies with some guys, but he said it is difficult because you can't really talk. What an experience this has been - - I cannot believe the impact that just one ten-minute phone call had on me!.
I'm glad to hear you got a call today! And really glad you didn't miss it. Similar story from R sounds like. WOW, an hour and a half. Sounds like it has been a super intense week for our SR's - lots of life lessons! I hope next week they conclude like a well-oiled machine and feeling like they are a team.
I did ask my son if there were any guys that he was becoming friends with...he said " oh, yes there are a few!" I am starting to think...he is friends with the few sons of the mom's on here, that I have gotten to respond to :) :)!!!
I still have not received a call, nor has his mom. He didn't bring a calling card with him when he went. I suppose I"ll have to send him one as soon as possible. Still wishing though every day that a random number will pop up on my phone. (:
Dear Kori ; They do need a phone card in order to call home, they will not let them call collect...mine didn't bring one either, and was not allowed to call home when the arrived for the 'we made it call' because of that. In the form letter from the chief mine wrote a sentence at the end of it and told me to send one so he could call home...I sent one the very next day! Sorry, if I would have known...I would have told my son to let anyone use his that didn't have one!!!!
cindy, thank you for the reply (: are calling cards expensive? I will hopefully try to go buy one tomorrow after I get out of school. that is so nice that you would have said that to him it is alright though. he never called when he arrived either because he called me off of another recruits cell phone when he was in a lay over. Thanks for the info though! Now that I know he needs one if I want even a chance for him to call- I'll go get one right away. Also, this means that they did receive our first letters??
Kori, your very welcome...no 'thanks' needed though :)! When I spoke to my son yesterday...he did receive all 4 of my letters I had mailed on Tuesday...he received them Friday. I purchased my calling card at Wal-mart. I got a AT&T 500 minute card for $25.00...there was also another one for $30.00 but it did not specify how much a minute costed?? I am sending off another letter tomorrow...I will tell him to let anyone use his phone card that doesn't have one yet (just in case)!!!

Hang in there! Hugs!
Cindy, Oh that makes me excited then because I mailed my letters early tuesday morning as well. Hopefully he received them then and wasn't thinking I had forgotten him! I wish they didn't have to use calling cards and could just use regular phones. Due to the fact that I am only a high school student $25 is kind of a lot for me lol. I'll try to send one asap but thanks for helping out (:
Glad I could help! I thought they could use regular phones and just call 'collect'...times have changed apparently :)! I am sure he got your letters too!! Although they do not get mail delivery on week-ends...but I am sure he got them on Friday just as mine did! I will for sure let mine know...to let anyone use his!!
