I know we are all overjoyed about our sailors coming home after PIR so let's get all of our questions answered here.

Ma'am,

Recruits graduating Dec. 17 & 22 will be granted leave and will be able to travel home.  Those graduating Dec. 17 will have their leave expire on Dec. 28.  Recruits graduating Dec. 22 will be granted leave that will expire Jan. 2.  Recruits are responsible for paying their own way from RTC to their home and then pay for their way from home to their next command for A School.  Once they are at their next command, they may request to be reimbursed for part of the travel costs.

Respectfully,

Recruit Training command

Traveling home the Sailors will be required to wear their uniforms because they have not phased in at A School.  A letter will be given letting them know what is allowed and not allowed while on Leave.  They cannot drive a car or consume alcoholic beverages while on Leave.

Our Sailors will not be allowed to bring their cars to A School.

This is a work in progress and I will try to answer questions as they become available to me.

Have a good day.  Kathy

As we find out more information it will be added above so it can be easily obtained. It is great news. Hugs. K
Trying to book airfare for my daughter to come home.
When do they get to leave, immediately after graduation?
When do they have to be back by?
Tonya, Betsy said they can leave the 17th and have to be back on the 28th. I think that means that they need to fly in by the 27th (it does for my son...who is stationed--he is back at work on the 28th). I private messaged Betsy about that to be sure. Hopefully we can get some info on the top of this page once all is confirmed for quick reference. What a blessing that they will be home for Christmas! Mine was still in boot camp for Christmas last year... :-( ....but we're blessed that he will be home this year (and for my birthday too....yah!).

Thanks, KLM, for starting this discussion. I think it will help alot!
Diannep, I will be happy to add the information up top. I am working right now but I will start this evening. Thank you for the suggestion. This information is so important. Bye, K
Looks great, Kathy! Sorry...I had not read your first message carefully before replying above and realize that you had said you would add info up top when you got home from work....sometimes my "PIR group surfing" on here gets the best of me!
No worrys, I do the same thing and I always appreciate your advice and information. Hugs. K
You are doing a great job getting the information, Betsy. Hugs. K
I wonder if you drive them home if they help reimburse for gas? I think we will also drive him to Pensacola on the 27th instead of having him fly. It would be nice to see that he gets to where he needs to be. Ughh I sound like such a MOM, lol Susan
I don't think they do, N4MSusan. My son drove from A School to home with my other son on leave before he reported to his first duty station. They didn't reimburse for that, but did pay for his flight from home to his duty station. So they should reimburse you for his flight from home to A School, or at least what it would have cost from GL to A School, I believe.
My son's recruiter told us before he left, that the Navy would schedule the flights. He said everything would be taken care of. I don't know if this simply has something to do with Tyler coming through Kentucky in route to South Carolina.
Hi TysMom, I think this does not refer to leave or holidays but how they get to A-School under everyday situations. We are going to call the public affairs office this morning to check on leave travel. Stay posted and when I find out I will post at the top here. K
AHA, I just found this place!! Great idea Kathy.
So here is my question. which I admit I posted a couple of other places. How do we get them tickets??

"Due to federal travel regulations issued by the DoD, recruites should not travel via common carrier on tickets purchased either by themselves or provided by family members."

It's located on the last page of the form letter above where your recruit wrote the little note.
