Just found out that recruiting office duty cannot be taken right out of boot camp. It will work after A school, though.
R's letters were very interesting. I learned the following:
The food is not bad at all.
They take too much blood.
Some of the shots hurt (aka the peanut butter shot).
Quite a few people left after arriving as a result of the "moment of truth".
The division is not very good at marching.
He missed home a lot at first but is settling in and "having fun" meeting new people.
It is a big group of 80+ people. I wonder why there are not more moms and girlfriends here.
oh so there's no way that they could get back their 5 days in hole after BC if they decide to take 10?
that's good that R's been having fun and settling in!
C said he's only taking 7 days out of 10. idk how he's gonna do it since a-school will be closed til jan. 2.
and yah, i noticed too. there's only a few of us here. :( C said there's like 88 recruits on his division..
He can report to A school any time. Once he reports, he is no longer on leave. I have never heard of anything being completely "closed" -- ever. There is always someone on duty that he can check in with, even on a holiday, if necessary. I am not sure if you plan to be with him but, I am not familiar with the rules for A school and whether they have curfews or off time that allows them to leave the base when not in school.
ohh i gotcha! so he'd probably just go to pensacola earlier than jan 2. thats what im probably gonna do, try to ask someone if C decides to go to a-school early, if he will be allowed to leave the base on certain time even though he has checked in already. thanks though! :)
Me too! It was great to hear R's voice. He is sick, though - sniffles and sneezes. He had his wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and today was the first day of regular duty after that. He said that they just took a test and that if the whole division had 4.0 or above on the test they get a flag. I so hope they get their flag. It would be such a boost to their spirits and I think they need that at this point. He also said that leave begins right after graduation, if they decide to take it. He plans to take five days and report to A school early. I think that's a good choice! Did anybody get an indication of when the next phone call might be?
phone calls, as C mentioned he said they might be able to get a few more call before PIR. indefinite.. but still something to look forward to. C also decided to take just 7 out of 10 days.. and would wanna tie the knot within that week. errr idk how are we gonna be able to do it! but hope all goes well. C said he passes he test though, i just dont which exactly it was. maybe for them to get a flag?... what did R said other than that? hope he feels better tho, he'll be in my prayers :)
Wow! You did have a great phone call. I hope that your plans work out for the best for both of you. So are you going to Pensacola? That is where R's A school is going to be. I can speak from experience that being a Navy wife has its ups and downs but it can be a great life!
