DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

There are many posts out there about what to send or not to send to your recruit while they are in boot camp. Hope this clears up any confusion. When in doubt, just don't send it. Better to save it for later then to cause a problem for them now.

DO SEND:
Cards
Letters
Postcards (just be careful what you write on it, anyone can see it)
Pictures (it's best to print the picture on the same paper that your letter is on for the sake of space)
Questionnaires (see discussions)

DO NOT SEND
Colored envelopes
Scented envelopes (no spraying envelopes with perfume!)
Sound cards
Care packages
Food/Snacks
Stuffed animals
Anything other than the OK items above!

Do not send ANYTHING that could cause your loved one to have to do extra PT or cause the division to stumble. When one is punished, most likely the whole division is punished. Think how you would feel if your loved one was having to do extra work for the actions of another! Be respectful of the others in the group.

If you find something special while your loved one is at boot camp, save it to give to them at PIR or another time after boot camp. It will mean more to them anyway

It is my understanding that at PIR, they can't receive much of anything except a watch. Once they are stationed at their prospective schools then the gloves are off and we can send them anything within reason that the post office will deliver. Kim
I don't know about the whole situation on that. I know that BC is strict and they can't take anything back in there with them and I know that at BC the gloves do come off and they are allowed items within space limit and reason. I don't know about the watch situation but when you get your graduation packet, it should contain all that info about BC that is.
