Do you know that when you click on the PIR, the file actually goes down to the left corner of your screen, then you click on that.

Donna, YAY for the box! That is so awesome!

Kim, you should get the letter this week, I bet.

Jessica, thanks for the info about their Christmas leave. Do you think they will contact us officially, or will we have to wait until we hear from our recruit in a letter about it? I know we can't make any arrangements for them, until we know for sure.

Donna, I'm so glad you received her box today. That is wonderful, we received my son's box Monday and still have not received the form letter, but we are staying watchful. Kim

I wanted to share this with all of you... The first 2 weeks are the hardest and many of them want to come home and say they hate it. That is one of the reasons they are not allowed to write for the first couple of weeks. They want them to get over that hump. My first letter from my daughter in the very first line it said "I hate this, I cried myself to sleep the first night...." Well it was over an hour before I could even read past that first line. I wanted to drive up there and march right up to that gate and get my baby girl. But she then went on to explain that she thought she was just mentally and physically exhausted. She said said "heck, I can do anything for 8 weeks; I will survive, please try not to worry mom. I love you, and I need this. Please write lots and lots of letters, I promise I will be okay. Now, stop crying.:-) I will see you soon, Love Me" She was right, it did get better. By the time it was over she actually said "I liked it! I wouldn't want to do it again but, I liked it" So, there will be sad letters and maybe some sad calls in the beginning. But just try to be strong and encourage your SR as much as you can. And always remember, This too, shall pass. The time will go by much faster than you ever thought was possible.

And, one more thing, for all of you scrapbookers.... ALL of the ribbon orders going out between now and Christmas will have a FREE scrapbook embellishment for your Navy scrapbook. Consider it a Christmas gift from me to you. I hope everyone has a great day. It is raining and cold here, and they are calling for SNOW, what the heck? I live in the South.....

JessicaB-Sailor Mom, thank you so much for the information regarding leave after graduation. I don't know how you obtained it, but it was so good to see. Kim

JessicaB-Sailor Mom-- so, if our recruits grad date is the 22nd (still not confirmed yet), when would they be able to leave. The 23rd? My daughter is scheduled for A school in Great Lakes. So, we would need to get her home and back? I'm sure she would rather come home than stay in Chicago (we live in Texas) for the holidays. However, we are willing to stay there for the holidays if we need to.

Good morning JBsMom, welcome to the group. My son shipped out for boot camp 10/27 and we are still waiting for his letter as well. I am just am writing letters, numbering them on the top and placing them in stamped envelopes waiting for his address. Kim
