Will gate passes be available Monday?
More clarification...(and Lynne, I hope you don't have flashbacks...)
The reason why Lynne's son's bout with pneumonia was so ugly, is because he ended up in the hospital the day he was supposed to do battle stations. Lynne didn't know - and kept waiting for his "I'm a Sailor" call...but it never came. While she was on our PIR cheering us on, and congratulating every other person who reported in that they had received the call, she was wondering why her son hadn't called. I think he was able to call really late that night, but by then Lynne was pretty beside herself with worry and I think she even "threatened" an RDC or two. (something about running them over with her scooter!) But he got better in time to do battle stations with another division, at which time Lynne graciously forgave the RDC who forgot to have her son call home.
Ooops! Sorry, Lynne...forgot he was Nov PIR, not Oct PIR!
I like Dianne's version of what I was trying to say...I choose hers...lol
There goes my brain being faster than my fingers...my son PIR'd 11/5...I am sorry...I can't even figure out what I was trying to say...I think was back spacing and rewriting and didn't go far enough...I apologize...it wasn't funny trust me...I was just trying to say I understood how that might feel...think I will just delete that post and try again.
I don't believe there will be BattleStations on Fri 12/17. Never have seen that before. Captains Cup is the next day for the entire PIR group...a great field day of events for the recruits. It is possible that the first group is going through on Thurs night (16th) and the capping ceremony is on the 17th. Most groups start BattleStations on Thurs night a week before PIR...depending on how large the PIR group is. Smaller PIR groups may not start until the next week (they can start Sunday night if needed).
Proundmom- I bet your son will love your ribbon lol. When my daughter was at boot camp I made the first ribbons to wear to her PIR. I sent her a picture of it and she sent me an order from 3 girls in her div for me to make ribbons for their parents lol. So I made them and took them to PIR and met the girls and they game them to their Mom's and Dads. They were so thrilled, it was awesome. :)
Worry Wart: On behalf of Lynne, I can assure you that she doesn't think the pneumonia thing is at all funny. For anyone...I think Lynne just left out a word in her post...I think she meant to say: You know, It's funny, worry wart (I don't think she meant funny...like laughing...I think she meant interesting). Believe me, Lynne is one of the best seasoned moms on here...she is tremendous support. So please don't take that the wrong way...we ache for those who are sick during bc...because their struggle is hard enough without that. We pray for each and every recruit who is sick...
And, Lynne's son already PIRed, back in Oct. She is on here to help everyone with their bc experiences as a veteran mom (me too). We love doing this and hope that our experiences will help you all.
Here's praying for good health for everyone!
Proudmom-Prayers for you & family:)
