Mary, he will be in my prayers as well.

Mary- I can tell you from experience that they will let him come home if he needs to and he chooses to. Then he can go back and finish. Or if he can wait it out for battle stations he can come home immediately after and just not participate in the PIR ceremony. That is what my son-in-law did. He stayed home for 10 days then flew back to Great Lakes and got his orders and flew out with the next PIR group that was headed to Pensacola for A-school. If he comes home he will have to buy his own plane tickets. If you have more questions feel free to send me a message. I will keep you all in my prayers and I hope his dad recovers quickly.

I went to the hospital and talk to the Social Worker who called Red Cross. The information has been sent for J now all I am waiting on is to hopefully hear from him.

Mary, I am sorry to hear about your father-in -law, Definitely do what Gaile suggested and call the Red Cross. My husband was in for 25 years and this is the correct way to get any emergency message to your sailor. You will need your sailors SSN and Ship and DIV at RTC. Will pray he recovers soon.

ctownnavymom, yes, I was told that the 3 phone calls are a given. One when they arrive, one during the middle of boot camp and the last one to tell us (you see I am bringing this into our future) that they are a Navy Sailor. allowed. Depending on how well the entire division is doing or not doing determines if they are allowed extra calls are not allowed any extra calls. However, if a recruit is struggling, he will have additional calls in hope that the family can cheer him on to make it to the finish line. So right now, no news is good news. BTW, I was on navy FB and a recruit from the Dec. 17th class was sent home effective 11-26 for medical reasons. My heart went out to his wife, he made it 5 long weeks during the most difficult phase of boot camp and sent home. Please continue to pray for him and his family and all others going through this journey.

BTW everyone, you do know if your recruit receives awards or honors, you will receive written notification in the mail from the Command Station and depending on the level of the award, you will be issued VIP seating at the graduation.

Rose, yes, he had an extra hour of PT for my call, but it was his fault for not telling me directly. They are up there to learn responsibility and one hour of PT is nothing compared to what would have happened had I not called. He knew right away when I spoke to him that he was wrong. He said he told his wife to call me immediately 3 weeks ago with the information. I told him he should have scribbled it on a paper and sent it to me in the mail as well. He agreed!

Hello Megan, I don't know what the deadline is for submitting their travel itinerary to scheduling, I read somewhere on our page that some people reported the 10 of this month. There was a lasp of communication with my son and his wife so I had to end up calling my son 2 days ago and yes, he had to do 1 hr of PT for that call. But he said it would be worth the 1 hr. just to know that he was definitely coming home and because I didn't know the exact date, I made both reservations from GL to VA and from VA to Mississippi and emailed them to scheduling yesterday, faxed it also and put a hard copy of both in the mail to my son. So comes what may, he will have hard copies. Additionally, I am taking hard copies to GL with me so there will be no misunderstanding. My daughter-in-law didn't understand what had to be done and forgot to mention it to me, because of Navy For Moms 12/22 group, I was aware and was able to make the arrangements. My son was upset that his wife didn't take care of it and failed to provide me with the information. I told him, not to worry, the important thing is that we have taken care of it and he will be home for Christmas. I also told him that it is a stressful time for his wife also and it is his responsibility to keep me in the loop so things can be taken care of in a timely manner. I guess he was hoping that she would step up to the plate and not mommy.

Mary I am so sorry and you and your family will be in my prayers. Another other is to speak with your father-in-law's doctor and explain that your husband is boot camp with only 3 weeks to go and tell the doctor, while you know he can not give you legal advise, if his son was in your husband's shoes, would he want someone to make the call to his son and would he deem it necessary for his son to leave boot camp? Then when you call the command, you can tell your husband, the doctor said come now, or the doctor said he will be better once he recuperates in the hospital and he will be much better by the time you come home. Boot camp is not prison, the COs are human beings training our loved ones to protect and serve to have family values and make important decisions. Your husband will make the decision that is right for him. This may give him a renewed zest for the final stretch of boot camp. Also let him know that his father is conscious or not. Let him know that the doctors are doing a wonderful job and that you are very active with visiting his father. I don't think they will give him any extra PT for the call, I am praying that his father will recover and your husband will graduate and visit his father as a Proud Navy Sailor. My son is in division 25, if you need me to take pictures or take your husband out to eat with our family and loan him a cell phone on graduation date, please send me a private message. I'm late getting on line, but I am johnny on the spot when needed. Hang in there and know that we are all here for you and your family.
