Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 039 and 040.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

Hi there jam. I hadn't been on the site for a while so I thought I would see if anyone had posted. Glad I did!
My sailor was Div 040. He went on to A school in Pensacola. I talked to him yesterday and he was very happy. He had passed all of his inspections and tests and thought he would make phase two by Friday which means he can go on longer liberty and wear civilian clothes. I shipped some civvies to him which he should get tomorrow. He also sounded so mature! He told me he bought an investing magazine and would like to start investing his money in some mutual funds and possibly save for a down payment on a condo that he could rent out to build for his future. If I didn't know his voice I would have thought it was a prank call. He seems to have matured a great deal in just a few months. I couldn't be prouder!
How is your sailor? Are they happy? Where did they go to A school?
Hi Jam!
My son is down in South Carolina for Nuke school...where he is waiting. And waiting. And possibly waiting some more! LOL They have to wait until they can fill a class to get started. They've been keeping him busy with lots of cleaning. I told him that it's karma for the mess he left his room in (which included a basket of dirty clothes I didn't discover until 6 weeks after he left for BC - that didn't smell good, I'll tell ya!).
Rotorwife - my son is doing the same sort of thing. They get a LOT of info about money management, and the smart ones take it to heart. It struck my husband as funny that when WE said it we were being killjoys, but when the NAVY says it, it's a really great idea! Bless their hearts.
Hi All - my son is back at Great Lakes after a week home in Florida. He is doing the indoc stuff also but is all settled into his barracks (dorm room really) he posted pics on his Facebook page and it looks like a dorm room. He is happy to be back to his training and I'm happy that he calls me every day to talk and tell me what's going on. He was in Div 039 and is hanging with some of the guys from his Div - in fact he tells me they are going to the mall on Saturday in Gurnee. After A school he says he may be on hold for 10 - 16 months waiting for C school, but he's ok with that and I am too - I told him he's still getting paid, he has his buddies around but I told him to join a group or team and I want him to find some volunteer opportunities as I believe in volunteering so will see what he comes up with. I told him I will be up to see him after he earns overnight Liberty but will definately be flying into Milwaukee instead of Midway or O'Hare after those trips back and forth at PIR - no thanks. And AirTran has non-stop flights from Orlando to Milwaukee for $108.00 each way!! All is good!!
He got to go home for a week?!? Super jealous! My son went straight to Pensacola for "A" school but is playing the waiting game too for a few months. I think next weekend we can start going to see him (his dad is taking his car to him) but I don't know when he'll get to come home. I think he said they can't go more than 300 miles away from base and we live in SC. That's even too far to visit his gf in Tampa. But a lot of things haven't been made ver yclear so maybe we'll know more the longer he's there. It is VERY nive to be able to talk to him any time!
Hate I missed Sarge's meet and greet. Our flights were changed and we didn't get to our hotel until 9:00 that night.
