He said he was doing great and that he passed the swim test, he said it wasn't hard. But then he has been swiming his whole life. He did say there were a few who didn't pass it but maybe they get another shot at it I don't know. He said that the first week he was there he was on hold with alot of other people, they had to wait for the rest of the Div to get there. He said they are a push Div, whatever that is. They are still on track for the Dec 3 PIR. He asked for stamps but, I had already sent him some last Friday. So ladies if you don"t get a letter today hang in there they are on the way. Remember I live 2 hours outside of Great Lakes.
I heard that they were a push also, that means that they have to work extra hard (push) bc they started late and still be able to graduate on time. My daughter had said the same thing when she called the first week, that they were just waiting around. I will be sure to send her stamps, thanks for the heads up!!
I am so glad to hear that the letters may be coming ! I am so glad to hear that your son is doing well ! Thanks so much for sharing . Now I will practice more patience , as I am all the way across the map in California. But it does help knowing our guys & girls are getting letters out now ! Hope you have a great day !
Oh my gosh, this is so exciting. I have finally found some other mom's in my sons division. I am so excited to hear that some have gotten letters. My son has a girlfriend so I figured she would get the first letter, but she hasnt gotten one either. We have both been checking our mailboxes daily. I sit and wait for the "phone call" that he told me I would get in 3 weeks that hasn't come yet. I know in my heart he is doing well, but as a mom I worry every day. This has been the longest he has ever been away from home, so for me it has been an emotional time. I am so thankful that there is this website and I can talk to other people who feel like me.
I forgot, my son is Ship 03, Div 018 we are from PA, any one else in this Div. or from PA?
Woohoo got a letter finally. He seems to be doing pretty well. His letter was written over a week ago, so hang in there if you havent gotten one yet. He says his div gets hurt and sick alot so they get extra IT (Intensive training). So far his PIR is still Dec. 3rd hopefully that doesnt change. Stay strong ladies, things are starting to get a little easier. I've read that letter a dozen times. And praying you hear from your kids soon. Thank you N4M!
Hi Jakesmom,
I think all of us in this group are Ship 03, Div 018-which I am so grateful for the support here bc it seems like our division is one of the last to have gotten a chance to write or call. I'm not surprised if there is a lot of injuries, since they are working so hard to catch up with everyone else! T;s Mom, I am across the ocean in Hawaii so definitely have learned to have patience-I just got my box two weeks ago! I just keep saying over and over again, no news is good news! Is everyone getting their division shirts? I was thinking about wearing mine to the PIR?
I am also so grateful for the support, however, there is so much information on this site that I think I am getting a little confused as to where I am supposed to be. I think that I have found the right group now. I finally got my first letter today, a little shorter than I would have liked, but he is not much of a writer. His girlfriend and gram each got one as well. Of course while I was out picking up daughter from school he called and I missed it, but thankfully he called his girlfriend and she relayed the conversation with me. He told her that their division is accellerated???? They just started training and only have 6 weeks left? I guess I will have to wait for his next letter to get a better understanding. Thanks all for your posts, it makes things alot easier.
Jakesmom so where do you get division shirts? I would really like to have one. I am still new to all of this.
Delia41 I am so happy you got a letter. Isn't it wonderful. I just keep reading mine over and over.
I just got a phone call from my son. He sounded really bad, very horse voice. He got to call because they made him go on sick call for his voice. But, his spirit was good and he said other than this cold he was doing well. I got to talk to him for about 10 mins. It was so good to hear his voice even if it was horse. A letter yesterday and a phone call today I am one happy Navy Mom.
I forgot to tell all of you my son said Div 018 is the bigest Div there.
