Hi Cal Sailor Mom. Just saw your post today. Our son is on the USS California. He is older too. He'll be 29 next month. My husband and I will spend Christmas with our two other sons and their wives and our sailor's fiancé will spend some time with us also. Being with family will make missing him easier to handle. My you have a Blessed Christmas with family and friends.

Hi Ladies. It has been a year since I commented. I hope all your sailors are doing well. My son is deployed and won't be home for Christmas. This is the first time we won't see him at holiday time. It will be difficult for all of us. He became engaged this summer but won't marry until 2016 when he is discharged. Happy Holidays to all. I will keep all PIR 12/3/10 grads in my prayers.

Anybody still check this group? It would be nice to hear a bit about how things have gone for our sailors.  Our son, an ET on the U.S.S. California just earned his Dolphins.  It's been a long hard road and we are proud of him.

Hi Ladies, Finally our son graduated from Prototype. We were able to attend his graduation on the 28th of Sept. It was a beautiful ceremony. We are so proud of him. There was horrible news that day though. Two sailors who were to start prototype training were killed in a tragic auto accident near Ballston Spa. My heart and prayers go out to their families. What unbearable news.

So good to hear of Amy's progress.  Its been a very long time since I've been on here.  My sailor, Chase, has been in Nuc training and is in his last phase of the course.  I think he will be able to graduate the program around March.  They roll so many in and he just rolled in this past month. Then it will be finding out where he is stationed.  He's in Ballston Spa, NY right now, but he's had fun traveling for the past couple of years.  Really miss him, but he is certainly turning into a fine man to be proud of and so different from the kid who left!  Calls me every week and keeps me up to date.  Occassionally asks for a recipe...lol!  Hope all y'all have happy news and your sailors are safe and happy!!!

Happy Holidays everyone.  I hope all of you had some time with your sailors and all is going well for you and them.

Hi Girls. It just doesn't seem like 1 yr has already passed. Matt is really enjoying Charleston, SC, He will finish Power School in Feb & then off to Prototype training...he won't know until closer to graduation if prototype training will be in Charleston or NY. I think he's hoping for Charleston, but he understands about the needs of the Navy so he goes with the flow:)

Yes, what a year it has been. My son is also at Goose Creek in Power School - part 2 of the 3 part Nuke training to prepare for entering the fleet. I wish I had gotten onto N4Ms sooner, I joined shortly before PIR, so I missed out on sharing in the ups and downs of boot camp with you: the arrival of the Kid Box, the frustration of no news or slow news, the worries over sickness, the joy of hearing their voice the first time they called (we both cried), the anxiety of Battle Stations, the thrill of the "I'm a Sailor" call, etc. etc. I missed so much...

Blessings on all of your sailors wherever they are in their Navy journey...

Hi Rena,  It was nice to hear from someone from PR 12/3. Our son Aaron finished A school in Goose Creek in May and he's in Power School now at GC.  If all goes well he'll start proto-type in the spring and then it's off to the fleet.  It's been tough on him and us but so far we're making it through.  Best wishes for Dylan's continued success.
