For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My daughter sent me a letter last week saying that they got in trouble :-( and I have not heard anything since. She broke my heart asking me to come and get her. I told her to keep her chin up and she can make it - but the Mom in me just wants to hop in my car and drive to IL and grab her! I am dieing for her next letter, I hope it is a bit better.

Can't Wait for PIR!!!

Comment by diannep on November 15, 2010 at 7:55am: Ok, we are just waiting on Div 903 for a BattleStations date. All other divisions are on there. If anyone hears, please post here and on the BattleStations discussion group above. It seems they will either go Tues, Nov 23rd before Thanksgiving, or Sunday. Nov. 28th by themselves.

Comment by diannep on November 15, 2010 at 7:52am: jessicat: BattleStations is their "final test." They become "sailors" at the conclusion of it. It is 12 hours long, overnight. As you can tell from the schedule, several divisions go at once. If you want to know more about it, go to the BattleStations discussion forum above and click on the link at the top that I posted. That describes it pretty thoroughly.

Sailor'sGirl. I believe that Days Inn does have the shuttle, but I would call them to make sure.
