According to the letter that we received from our son last Wednesday, Ship 09 Div 12 starts Battlestations on the 29th. Everyone should expect their calls on the 30th.

Yes, Lynne is so right. It got to the point of ridiculous. A statement made on Facebook about BattleStations caused much confusion on this site. There was a "discussion" opened about it that was flying with comments...some not so nice! Finally, someone closed the "discussion" thank goodness. We are allowed to say that it is an overnight drill and that the I'm a Sailor calls will start coming in the early to mid-afternoon. And we can post dates too. I mean...come on....BStations run almost every day of each week for some PIR group...except for Fri and Sat nights....that is pretty constant info! But thankfully Lynne did check it out with the PAO and we are all good!

Abbe'sMom: If you go to the BattleStations discussion forum above, there is a link I put at the top of that group that explains what they do in BStations.

brittadams: Burning the blue candles is in honor of the recruits going through BStations. The burning of a blue candle seems to be a tradition in the Navy....maybe they were burned during the time a sailor was deployed? I know someone spotted one burning in a window when driving by. We here like to burn them during all of BStations days....for those concerned about safety, they get a blue light bulb to keep on. Just out of respect for the boys and girls at RTC during their finale before they become sailors!

BS schedule that we have so far is listed above....just above the discussions and just below the music player....If anyone knows of Div 11 and 12 and 903, please let me know so I can add those as well! Div 9 and 10...some have thought Monday, but those with PIR are still going through BS on Monday, and many of the recruits said Wed night....so that date may change....Will post the Blue Candle that week!

yes...I've read about the snow for our PIR weekend as well....I'm hoping just cold..I guess we'll keep an eye on it!

Lynne do you have a site where we can go to get the story for BS?
Comment by brittadams on November 14, 2010 at 9:16pm
can someone explain the blue candle thing..
Comment by Lynne on November 14, 2010 at 9:07pm
Woo hoo starting to plan for battlestations is so much fun. The whole story behind the battlestations thing is humorous....public relations didn't want the actual times posted on facebook. They were using this as a teaching tool to teach people on the facebook site about OPSEC and such...so it really was not directed toward Navy For Moms...it caused such a ruckus on this site...right during the time my PIR group was going through battlestations (like we weren't stressed enough...lol) that the public relations guy and I are now on a first name basis...I wonder if that is good..lol!! Oh well,....so post away and get those blue candles ready!!!
