Skype is awesome! It is definitely going to help, plus texting, phone calls & facebook - much better situation than bootcamp. I just know I'm not going to be able to bank enough hugs to get me through the next 6 months, much less a year. Ugh.

Lou2-Skype is a great way to stay in touch.  Set ours up this past weekend with all the family and my sailor, I definately think this will help some. My daughter says by May she will be out of the hole and start accruing more days.

nvmomma- I know what you mean about the seperation anxiety...dreading that!!!

So thankful I have all you all to talk to when I am feeling so down.  It sure helps to know that others know exactly what I am going through and how I am feeling! Thanks ladies!!

Chandler owes 5 days as well so it will be a while before he returns home.  His Dad will see him though when he is on business in Chicago.

Thanks, Lou2, I am reintroducing the self-pep-talks :). I don't want to waste the last 3 days of his leave being depressed. I calculate he will have 7.5 days accrued by the end of June (he says they get 30 days/year), which would be enough time to get home for a few days, but right now he talks like he won't take it then. He may change his mind by then, who knows. He also has talked about flying us out there sometime...I think I have just let myself slip back into how great it is to have him home, I've lost all the ground I gained when he left for BC - feel like I have to go through the separation anxiety all over again! He's a grown man, not going to be around much anymore, gotta face it.

Just trying to make some feel better -- my son says that they earn 2 days a month vacation (or whatever they call it) so it won't be too long before they'll have enough to visit again.  Depending upon their class schedule of course. If your sailor has a computer, perhaps you can use Skype to at least see/talk with one another.  Nate will be home in about 3 weeks then will go to his first duty station -- Guam -- for at least 2 years. We think it will be easier for me to visit him than for him to try to get back home.  It's expensive, unless you're on a military flight, and takes several hours to get there.  Guam is 15 hours ahead of the US east coast where I am.  We'll make it work someway.  Keep your chins up.  Just think about how proud you are of them.  This always makes me smile.

nvmomma- I totally understand!!  I have been having a tough time with this as well.  I am so thankful to have others on here to talk to that understand what I am going through.

proudksmom, I think that is a lot of it for me too. My sailor used up all his accrued leave time on this trip, plus he owes for several months in the future; it may be a year before he has enough leave saved up & the opportunity to use it again. Tough to swallow. Sorry to be a whiner. I have been in a funk, time to snap out of it.

I too am not looking forward to my sailor leaving!!  I think a lot of it is that I dont know when I will get to see her again....it breaks my heart!!  Worried sick about her aircrew training doesnt help matter either.
