Terese... I realized that my son spelled Stephen with a "ph" instead of a "v" so maybe it's not yours. I sill can't imagine my son singing...lol

CCO727: Chances are that all of the MA's will be GradNGo if one is in the same PIR group...but not guaranteed. They use 3 different airports...Ohare, Midway (also Chicago), and Milwaukee, I believe....although seems that most fly out of OHare. They also sometimes charter a flight for the recruits. Hoping that your son is not on a charter so that you can drive to the airport on Sat (very early!) and get a military gate pass, and wait with him and the other sailors for his flight at the gate. Great extra time with your sailor! GradNGos fly out anytime on Sat (but are usually bussed there early in the morning)....and some even leave on Fri night.

Yes, the leave time they get for the holidays will count toward their leave time after A School. You can check with his recruiter to see if by working in their office when home, he can take those days off of accrued leave. But I understand that there are restrictions on that, and the recruiters' offices may be closed during that time anyway. Worth looking into.

another question...i am reading below that A School is closed for Christmas week and they could get to come home for the week. How does this work? Do they even have enough Leave Time accrued to come home for the week and if they do come home, will that lessen the amount of leave time that they get to come home before they go to whereever they get stationed at after A School? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ashley (Ship09 Div009) and Jacob's Mom (ship03 Div 017) My daughter is going to San Antonio Texas for MA A School also. She told me she will have leave Friday but does ship out on Sat morning :-( I am soooooo grateful that she gets to come home for Christmas. Time is ticking away quickly. She told me in a letter that this was HELL WEEK... any idea what that means?
Happy Friday ~
