OK Diannep I went and read the rejoicing of 10/29 sailors calls and cried even more. It could have been the Anchors Aweigh playing in the background. We all sang it at our SRs going away party. That will be us soon! NukeMom pass the tissues!

OK, i haven't been on here since last night. I just went back and read all the posts for the past 24 hours. Now, I'm crying! Again! It is nice to know we all feel this sense of loss and I'm not the only one. BUT, I am so thankful to have found this site so I can get the needed answers to most of my questions...I still don't know everything that's going on, but I get comfort from relating with each and every one of you! Thank You! :)

MEsailormom: Staying on this site helps alot with the anxiety...even in the middle of the night! You would be surprised that sometimes, people are on then. You are feeling the same thing that we all feel (felt). It gets much better so hang tight!

Single Mom here too not enjoying the silence. Hard to have my best buddy so far away but am so proud I can't stand it. I got so spooked when I saw some of the SRs going home "early". I guess I never even considered that possibility. I had to stay off this site until I got control over that sneaky worry. Now I just cry and worry all night. My son was away on a schooner (we are from Maine) for 4 months during senior year so the lack of communication is not new to me. The anxiousness, howvere, is very new. Please let them call this week!

For some excitement....check PIR 10/29 group who are getting their I'm a Sailor calls.

lukesmom: There is a Meet N Greet discussion at the top of the page. You can participate there and you all decide if you want to stick with the Ramada M&G (offered to all Navy families for that PIR date...not just N4M's) or if you want to go to your own spot. SO check it out!

I have booked a room for us at the Navy Lodge, the rate is $65 per night and I understand it is a nice place to stay. It is within a couple of miles of the RTC. However, to stay at the Navy Lodge, the reservations need to be made in the name of the SR, you have to be military to stay there. We have also made our plane reservations on SW, however, I am going to go back on to see if I can get cheaper tickets.

Also, we did get a pretty good deal on SW - $109 each way online. Right now by phone it's $170+ each way (we're less than 1500 mi. each way). Better deals online so I'm told.

lukesmom - I feel the exact same way you do, as I'm sure a lot of moms do. I've cried at least once every day since my daughter's been gone the past 3 wks. I hope we get together at the "Meet & Greet." I haven't booked yet, but would like to stay at the Ramada Inn (4 mi. from base) and they do a M&G every week before PIR.

lukesmom: Single mom here also, although my husband didn't pass away until my boys were teenagers. I so admire those of you who raised your children alone most of their lives...wow....I had to jump into that job when mine were 15 and 17....fun teenage years!
Anyway....all that you and Luke have been through...it will just all come to such a great point of celebration on 12/3, him in that gorgeous Navy uniform...marching in unison with his division...Iooking like the grown man that he is...it is a time that compares to no other....and THEN...you will be back in communication with him...and can continuing bugging him with texts, emails, etc. HA! A School reconnects us to our children. It is great!
