Lukesmom - I booked Marriott Residence Inn. I am watching however for deals in case the price drops. They do have a special rate for Navy graduations, but sometimes you can do better on the specials. You can always rebook if a sale price comes out. I subscribe to get email specials from airlines and hotels where I have miles or points.

For those of you that have not booked airfare, Southwest just send deep discounted specials. Book NOW these go fast. You can always change your dates on Southwest. They fly into Midway. If you are flying less then 1500 miles one way, flights are under $90 one way. I just got non stop flights from Connecticut for $60 each way on Thursday and Monday, 12/2 and 12/6.

Stacy: When that 1st phone call comes, and you hear his voice, you will breathe a huge sigh of relief and it gets much better after that. Even though we know that they are safe and well cared for up there (aside from sickness and injuries...where they care for them too! HA!)....we need to HEAR from them. I had a smile from ear to ear the first time my son called me when he went through....and I was fighting back happy tears....didn't want him to know that part...so...hang in there...it's coming! Happy Dances for ALL!

And, no, Tammie. You weren't wrong...GOOD FOR YOU to stick up for our country, our military, and our flag! The disrepect has got to stop....

I love the stories that I hear where when men/women in uniform are at a restaurant, someone will pay their bill. I'm hoping to see that and be able to do that. Don't see too many uniforms down here in Miami...but maybe one day....I'm there!

I'm glad I am not the only one who is so emotional! My husband told me before our son left that he thinks of it like he is going back to college and couldn't understand why I was getting so emotional and nervous! Ummm...hello! He is going to the MILITARY and not college! I wanted to pop him upside the head! ;-)

I have been getting more and more anxious as the days go by. I feel like I need to hear from him! Just to hear that he is ok. And yes, I know that no news is great news but still...I NEED to hear his voice!

I cried reading the coments this morning. We was at a football game and they was getting ready to do the national anthem ,I caught myself think how proud I was to have a son in the Navy, I look in front of us and there was some high school boys makeing fun of are flag and are speacial poeple who serve to kept us safey I hate to say but I let them have right there. one of parents ask what happen and I told them and parents got them as will. all my hubby could do was sat there and look at me in shock (I am not one for cause a scene) but something just come over me and I lost it. Was i wrong for doing that? My dad was in the Navy years ago he was at Pear harbor..I have all ways had the up most respect for are guys and this cournty .

LovingMyCurtis: Awwww....your story made me tear up. So special. You all are so blessed to have each other. Being a military gf/spouse I'm sure must not be an easy thing....long separations, times without voice contact or any contact, but I think for those who can do it, they exhibit such wonderful strengths and commitment...so absent in other relationships today. So hang in there....your love and devotion to each other will get you both through!

The last time i heard curtis' voice he was about to get on the bus to go to BC and he told me to call his voice mail and he loved me...Curtis changed his voice mail telling me how we could make it through anything and how much i mean to him.... it was so sweet. i call his voice mail every night before i fall asleep.... i miss him so much and i didnt cry the whole day i was at MEPS with him until he was walking to the shuttle to go to the airport because he turned all the way around while he was walking and blew me a kiss and winked at me! then i burst into tears i couldnt see a thing for like 30 mins... i had cried the day before he left because we have seen each other everyday except 6 days out of our almost 3 year relationship and i knew that was about to change... im so used to falling to sleep with him every night and now i dont even get to hear his voice sometimes i feel like im going crazy but i realize i have to be strong for him...in the letters i write him i tell him that everything is ok even though most of the time im lying... i just dont want him to worry about me because that would make things worse for him...

lovingmycurtis...I feel the same way..and while I knew some about the military, and was always proud of the men and women who served and tried to do things for them, it didn't affect me the way I'm affected now....I've never been one to cry--I'm just not a crier, but when Michael reached BC and called for that 20-30 seconds and told me it'd be at least 3 weeks before I heard from him again...well I cried! I was so upset..I had been good since Jan when he DEP'd in and all through sitting with him at MEPS and at the airport, I was strong, but that nearly killed me! My hubby yelled at me and said don't cry, not now(he's the crier in my family! and had cried through out the day)...I know why..I could hear Michael on the other end break down as well..he'd not cried and I was now making him cry! I felt awful for that! Anyway, anytime I see the flag, or hear about the war, or any of our Military...I just feel different..like I'm now part of it...strange, but true!
