Tammy: After checking the 11/24 site and seeing that they finally received letters last weekend, I think your son will get his 30 letter this weekend....and he will be very happy! They hold the mail from the recruits for the first 2 weeks of bc. Don't worry...he'll get each and every one of them.

Lala: Several months back, someone else wrote that about blacking out the Navy emblem on the envelope so as not to mess up the post office. So I went and looked at my son's 4-5 letters that I had received. None had been blacked out, yet I got them all. So not sure that is really true????

fairiegirl: Better to get the gate pass because if he has liberty that weekend, you will need the pass to get back on base. Yes, you are right....taking the shuttle to PIR makes it where you don't need the pass. But no worries. You have plenty of time and he should know the password so just write him and ask him. You can't print the gate pass until 11 days before PIR anyway. I'm sure he will get it to you. Glad you have such a great recruiter. My son had a great one as well....I didn't realize HOW great until I read all of the issues on this site with others. There are some really good ones out there....

Sunny, I am so so sorry! I'm so glad that she has Plan B going, and it sounds like a great plan! I know one "person" who will be happy to see her home...GUS! I know you all will love seeing her too. I just hope she is ok with this....like you said, God closes one door and opens another. Best of luck to her!

Well everyone - the Navy is sending Meaghan home, I'm very sad :( - she's had a second nosebleed and they've determined that she's anemic, so home she comes in two weeks. I suppose one door closes and another one opens, so I have a feeling she'll be off to nursing school next semester.

We got two letters from are son today . He said that he is still liken it {which is good). He ask how come no one has wrote to him , I dont understand why he has not got our letters yet,We have sent him like 30 of them. so confussed about it . it made me cry reading him ask that. what to do?

I heard they black out the emblem because the machines at the post office mistakes the emblem for a stamp and it messes everything up. The first few letters I received had the emblem blacked out but then I sent her some stamped self addressed envelopes to save her time.

Yes, fairiegirl, your son is in 12/3 according to his division number so you are in the right place! Give the form letter another week to arrive If it doesnt, don't bother calling the Public Affairs Office because they will just tell you to ask your recruit for your password to get your gate pass and the names of the 4 guests that he listed on it. Did the recruiter give you an address with the Ship/Div #s?

MommyHunt: I did that too...the self-addressed stamped envelopes (2). He threw them out...said he didn't need them! URGH!

Marion: Don't think my son blacked out the emblem on his envelopes and I got them all?? But this was back in Dec, Jan....maybe somethiing changed since then. I still think letters haven't come because they have written yet....

If a letter doesn't come today, then I bet they will write on Sunday, so next week will be the week!

Marion aka Jared and Lucas' Mom - So that's why the seal on the envelope was blacked out LOL! I wondered about that!
