momclf, my son's A school is also at Great Lakes.  He will be home for Christmas Dec 17 - Jan 2.  I am also looking forward to spending several weekends with him while he is in school since we only live a few hours away.  I don't want to miss out on time with him while he is so close.  He was also told that there are weekends he will be able to come home since we are within 300 miles.  He can take the amtrack for $15.00 each way (military) not bad.Good for amtrack for giving military a good rate.

Aww Marti, I feel for you.  We werent sure if our sailor would be allowed to come home for the holiday, but we are lucky enough that he will be home for about 8 days, not as long as I would like, but we will take whatever we can get.  Will he be able to get adopted for the holiday?  I know it is not the same, but at least he won't be alone that way.  I hope he had a wonderful birthday.  My thoughts will be with you and your family for the Christmas season.

Marti-  How hard that must be not having him home for the holiday!!  Im sure he will have good friends that he will be able to do things with but I know that does not make it any easier.  My daughter still does not have her cell phone or computer either, it makes me crazy!!  I was so looking forward to being able to call her right after bc.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jacob!!!

My son's birthday is today and he is in San Antonio and doesn't start his school until the first of the year.  He is not coming home until after A school.  We can't send his phone and computer until he starts a school.

Not sure how much time chandler has

I was wondering the same thing.  It seems like they went from being so regemented to an awful lot of freedom.  My son has liberty every night from like 4 - 9, he seems like he doesn't know what to do with himself.

Comment by chandlersmom on December 13, 2010 at 1:16pm
Chandler said he starts school today. I wonder if all that they were taught will stick as far as being responsible team work ext now that they have freedom again.
