I stand corrected diannep! It was the Ramada that had "smell" issues in some areas of the hotel, NOT the Marriott. Sorry if I threw anybody off on that one!

Marriott is Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Homewood Suites, and Residence Inn. I would doubt they would have a smell as they are high quality hotels (my Navy son worked for them for a couple of years...). The Ramada had been criticized for having a "smell" but others said it was fine.

We are staying at Candlewood Suites.

Hi BraintreeMom! We booked a 2-bedroom suite at Homewood Suites. They allow pets too!! I think that it's the Marriott is the one that has areas of the hotel that have a "peculiar smell". Seems like quite a few are staying at the Residence Inn as well!

I have had several who are looking for pics of the ribbons and can't seem to find them. The page number change all the time and it does make it harder to find them. I have tried taking some more pics but the pics just don't show how good the ribbons really look. They are about 6 in tall on average. They are so much better in person. If you want to order some just send me a friend request and I will send you the info.

lfgr7 - Yep, we are all wondering about Christmas as well! It will depend on when they go to A-school, where that is, and I'm also told that sometimes they say PIR groups that graduate after X date can't put in a CHIT for holiday time off. My daughters A-school is in great lakes, and given that I think A-school for GM's has just recently started, it's only a guess....but I'm thinking that she will have some hold time waiting for her A-school to start. So.....it would be really nice to be able to have her come home for the 2-week holiday stand down but none of us are certain that will happen for any of our kids :( We can only keep our fingers crossed!!

Hello All and Congratulations on being part of the number one Navy in the World. I know for me the weeks my sons were in Boot Camp were some of the very hardest in my life. Just a few pieces of advice/information for you.
#1) Yes keep everything private.
#2) Don't share things that could identify your recruit in anyway.
#3) Yes, the RDC's do read this site, and SR's have gotten punished for things posted here an on the NRTC page. Be general in everything you post.
#4) WRITE, WRITE, WRITE to our recruits! They love the mail and need it for support. However, don't make your mail stick out. Don't write hearts all over it etc... plain envelopes is best!
#5) Keep your chin up! This will pass, and they will be in a place where we can talk/text/chat with them. It does pass .. if not quickly... it does pass!
I wish you all the very best!
