NukeMom - YAYYYYY I'm so happy to look forward to letters!!! I know the RDC's work differently in the divisions so some get priviledges that other divisions don't....but our kids are in the same place so I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!!

Melh: The "separation" ship (5) is when recruits are being removed from the Navy for any reason. The process takes a while and that is where they stay until it happens.
Yes, Jessica, Ship 6 is for medical.

NukeMom: Yah! Letters for you this week! Happy Dance time coming up in your house!

I got to talk to my son again...thanks to his recruiter not sending all his paperwork. He had to call to get more answers to more security questions. He sounded much better than the last time I spoke with him. says he got to send letters out yesterday. I am so excited :) and not crying for a change.

It's mentioned on page 3 on this discussion. Sounded kinda ominous.
And I went to the link that you suggested for seeing the outside of the "ship" - thanks.

Got the letter today!!! Yipee! My recruit sounded good. He said so far everything was ok. Had a week of processing but was now into training. He's Ship 03 Div 017. PIR 12/3 So yeah...I'll see you all there. I feel so much better that he didn't complain and that it was going ok.

Ship 6 is a separation ship? What does that mean?

Hi everyone : ) My son is set for PIR 10/29. He was getting plenty of letters from us and grandparents etc. but none from friends. I posted this on the bootcamp mom group and diannep asked me to post on some current PIRs for an idea to get your recruit's friends to write. My son's friends are all tech/video gamers. I think they'd get hives if they had to actually put pen to paper. So this is what we did this weekend.

Yesterday we invited a bunch of his friends over and had a letter writing party. They took turns sitting down at the computer and writing a short note to him. I mailed them this morning. Worked great : )
