Comment
Hi Pam, it was great to meet you too. We had a wonderful time out there. Our trip home was a little hairy...snow from indiana all the way to pennsylvania. It was especially bad in ohio. Did your son make it safely to his A school? Mine just moved across the street. I hope that we can stay in touch and let each other know how our kids are doing. Take care.
My boyfriend was in our local newspaper yesterday :) it said how he completed boot camp gosh i'm so proud!!!
momclf I hope you had a nice safe trip home, I know it was sad to leave your son. I wanted to tell you how nice it was to meet you at the meet and greet. I hope you had a good time in our state.
Proudksmom, I totally agree with you. I am sure it will get better too, but I also feel closer to all you girls. I think it is because we were all so stressed together, lol. I hope to stay in touch with you girls, because I am sure I would not have made it through BC without all of your support. My sailor is coming home on the 23rd, so I have started a new countdown clock here at home. haha. I am in need of another hug.
DodieMatt'sMom, I am not sure if you got the message of not, but I wanted to say how nice it was to meet you at the meet and greet, even though it was very brief, since it was busy. But I also wanted to thank you for organizing it on here, I would have never known about it otherwise. We had a wonderful time and met 1 or 2 families with sailors in our division. So thank you.
Hi All, I spoke w/Matt on the phone for about 30 min today. He says he can't wait to start A School. He won't class up until after the holiday stand down. He really likes his roommate. He says they have alot of interests in common. They have internet/cable available in their rooms & he's going to split the cost w/his roommate. He went into Charleston Friday night & Saturday w/a couple of guys. He was planning on staying in today & watching football. He's not buying anything...being pretty frugal with his money:)
I agree ladies!! I have joined new groups for my daughters A school, but I still feel more support here, maybe it will get better!! Wont be long until we can spend the holiday with our Sailors, cant wait!! :)
I'm still here Molly. My son is going to A school for corpsman as well. I guess he hasn't officially started yet, because he has been calling every night and sounds a little bit bored. I miss everyone on here as well. I guess that they are all off on new groups. Friend me and I will stay in touch with you.
aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyooooooonnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeee come on here anymore? I miss talking to everyone......
Hi All, I posted a question on the RTC facebook page re: graduation announcements for newspapers. This was their response:
"During bootcamp, the recruits are given the opportunity to complete a Fleet Hometown News release form. The release forms are sent to Fleet Hometown News agency, who in turn, releases the information to local newspapers in the recruit's zip code zone. You will need to check with your local paper(s) to find out their turnaround time for printing their military news items. It normally can take up to a few months before the papers receive military announcements. This is the only manner in which RTC releases information regarding the recruits' successful completion of boot camp."
