Do they provide meals in a school. Chandler bye through his. Cash we left and his debit card is on its way to him. He said they charge for the bus to drive to airport and he had no money so he now is forced to pay for a taxi on the day he leaves. He will have money by then

mesailor mom--I read somewhere on the Gl website that they have like a form for the sailors to fill out a BC to have sent to their local paper.  But I would like to know for sure.  I will ask on the FB sight.

Asmom--Hope Amy is ok!!!  When does she leave GL?

Finally got  frantic call at 10:30 last night stating she had to have flight schedule to them by next day!!  NIGHTMARE!!!  most flights were full amd husband bbok wrong one that would get her in too late, had to chg it and she still does not have her phone so it was using a friends.  But good news is she will be home on the 18th.  I am already dreading her leaving!!  Why cant I just take it day by day!!

Annemarie...my son is in Charleston as well, he left 12/4...I'm guessing yours didnt leave on Sat?  Anyway, my boy was div 10, but he's seen alot of the nukes from our PIR..they are not all together kinda spread out, but Michael does talk to many of them.  He's still bored, can't wait to start school in Jan.  Next week a group of them is heading to a Naval Museum...we're not sure if its a "field trip" or a "work trip"...it was kinda unclear as to what they were doing when they got there.  I agree on the reasonable priced tickets..NONE!!  and when I got approval finally the flight we wanted was booked, so he had to wait till the 18th to leave, but that is ok...we still get 2 weeks with him!

I don't know what APO is?  Ryans address has numbers and letter with a Dewey  Ave.  I sent phone yesterday in 2 day mail.  I hoping he gets it.

I am ready to send Chandler his phone and debit card over night.  My mailroom is telling me I should have an APO address but he didn't give me that he gave me just  normal address so what should I do to ensure he will get this stuff?  What did yall do?  Thanks!!

I read on here somewhere.... that there are shuttles from the base to the airport starting at 6 AM on the 17th only.  After that day, they have to arrange for their own transportation.

Comment by sandy Ship3 Div 17 on December 10, 2010 at 11:41am

I heard from Ryan last night too - He like many of you are saying is kinda bored.  He is at GL and likes his roommates, but said he will have to move after he returns from Christmas.  I think the change of schedule must be hard for them.

Does anyone know how the transportation from airport to base works?  Do they just do airport shuttle or taxi or is there another option?

Also wondering about putting picture in newspaper - someone posted a day ago too.  Is there any template we follow or what?

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas with their sailors.

Heard from Randy last night...on someone else's cell phone.  He's coming home for Christmas next Friday!  Yah!!  Moved over to A school on Wed. and loves having liberty everyday at 1600.
