fairiegirl: Thanks for starting my day which such a laugh reading your post about your animals and daughter! Don't think I have ever seen a "feline" version of Lassie? HA!
I live in Miami FL so we too have the HORRIBLE heat (plus humidity here)....hence, not a chance that I wouldn't wash the dirty clothes when they arrived. My son himself is very good about washing his own clothes so he would want that (since he was 7th grade...I "tricked" both my boys into thinking it was a right of being more grownup in 7th grade to wash your own clothes....they both would proudly come downstairs with their hampers for a while, until they realized it wasn't so much fun....but both have been doing their own laundry since then....YESSSSS!).
I think you will definitely need to pack up all of those animals and DRIVE from CA to GL for PIR....animals in tow! Take along a film crew as I'm sure you will become the newest reality show! :-)

Sorry: Correction on my "introduction" earlier. Sobe's son is not stationed yet, but now has moved to C School. He will be stationed overseas after that. Sorry, Sobe!

OH Sunny....I'm sorry what a hard day. You know what i had an "accident" on the confidence course when I was in and I thought that was it...I was going to fail or be put back in another group. But when I went back to do it again...I went through w/flying colors...our flight helped each other out...i remember us placing a weak runner between us and holding her up while we were runing our final PT test! Back then we ran in formation ...these kids have what it takes to help each other through and work as a team like they will have to do the rest of their navy career! It just happens and it is so heart warming to think back to us young girls working so hard together...and we beat our "brother" flight in every competition. :) You moms of girls...just know they have lots of support w/n their division and will help each other make it! Women make the military an even better military force!!!

QT4JLM: HInt on the shedding in the car (I have a Lab and a rotty/dobey mix...SHEDDERS!). If you have an old bathroom rug, throw it on the backseat. Seems to trap at least some of the hairs! I do this all the time. I am very partial to LABS! My 2 present dogs are rescues.....both 7 yrs old now....but our history of having Labs goes back to when I was just 16 yrs old...which was many moons ago! I hope you are sending piks of your pets to your recruit....the pet pik was my son's fav in bootcamp....he had to show everyone!

QT4JLM: LOVE Hogan's face....what a sweetie! I know he must wonder where his master is. I'm such a dog lover....married a vet even! If you decide to take him to PIR, Residence Inn in Waukegan is "pet friendly!"

Hi, Ladies. I'm a veteran mom, like Jessica and Sobe. Wanted to join this group....even before it is on the upcoming grad list! Hoping that between Jessica, Sobe, and me (along with other veterans who jump on the boards from time to time), we can answer any questions you all may have and calm any nerves! All of our sons are now stationed, after PIRing earlier this year. Jess and I have been on these boards since late last year, Sobe got on not long after that. We are the "N4M board stalkers" soaking up info to share with the PIR groups when you need it. So ...if you have a question, please ask! If we don't know the answer, we will try to get it.

fairiegirl: Your letter should arrive shortly if you have already received the box. Sounds like your box was....well....interesting! HAA! Ok, are you one that keeps the box as is, smells the clothes every now and then, or one who puts it away with everything in tact, or one who washed everything as soon as it arrived? You don't have to say....but we all handled the box differently! I am a "get er done" type of girl...so I got the box, opened it, and had his clothes washed and put away in a couple of hours. I think I did it quickly so I wouldn't get too sad....but my son was 23 when he went in and we both were READY for this. He had lived away from home for 1.5 yrs before enlisting, then back home for the 10 mos of DEP. Although we had good times together, it was time.....we both agreed! He is loving the Navy so far....will have been in for a yr next month.

This is a wonderful journey, everyone....can't wait to help you all through it!
