It is hard to believe but 1 yr ago today my son started BC. Some days it feels like it was yesterday but most days it feels like it has been FOREVER! I do not catch myself crying near as much but I still can't listen to certain songs or watch certain shows without it making me tear up...
Dylan has been in school or waiting for it to start this entire yr. He is at Camp Pendalton waiting to start FMTB on Monday. He will be done in mid Dec and then maybe he can settle into life as a working Navy Sailor. He will be stationed at CP until Dec 2014 so now I know where my next several yrs vacations will all be...lol
I hope all of your sailors are doing well also...
Julie...I hate to hear that for you! But at least you can still go out there and see him! Mine just came home on friday! so glad he is here!
We are planning on going out the end of Oct for power school...he just told us about some villas for like 73 bucks a week...he has to rent them, but we can pay him back...3 bedrooms and they are very nice from what I hear!
Are you in Nuke moms? I think I may have saw you on that page but wasn't sure....keep me informed on how your son is doing...Michael hated A school but is looking forward to Power school....math and science! Hope your son gets classsed back up soon, I think it's harder on us moms then the boys!
Hi Shelby's Mom
I've been so slack about getting on here. Even though I'm not Catholic, I gave up Face Book for Lent. I did not hear about the tsunami until 6 am est. I immediately went into wreck mode! Fortunately I was able to get e-mail from Nate around 9 am letting me know he was OK. It did not matter what the news was saying, I had to "hear" it from him!
Nate says that they are going to be busy with ships and aircraft carriers evacuating Japan. Job security I told him.
I still have a ways to save before I can get to Guam. No vacation to the beach this summer, but then 75 to 85 degrees in Winter sounds really really good!
BTW our last name is Hill. I think Nate said that Shelby is upstairs from him, but don't hold me to that. I guess the guys notice the girls when they come in :)
Hey ladies!
Dodie--Michael likes Charleston, just not A school, he is looking forward to Power school--lots of math, chem etc...his strong subjects! He's had alot of machinery classes in MM school...I think if he had a chance to do it over, he'd pick ET..he would like the classes better-more up his alley!
@CAl...I've heard the same thing,...Power grad is much better...nothing exciting bout A school grad...or so the rumor goes...I hear Power is very nice...not quite like BC PIR, but still grand in it's own way...we are holding out for that one! Mine will start power on April 28th and should finish in late Oct..should be nice over there then!!!
@Julie..I'm waiting till power grad...he is coming home April 1 for 10 days, so we just decided to wait..a couple of other things happening for us here on April 1 and 2 so it just kind of worked out for us this way...but planning on going in late Oct for power grad....I'm guessing it will be then, since they class up on April 28. Is your son 1111a or b? or do you know? he's a MM?
@terese....it depends on the sailors I think....and when they graduate A school and when they class up....I know some that are graduating in June and they get leave time....I know my sons class can have leave as well, so i would think they have the opportunity to have some leave time.
Hi Jakes mom and Nates mom. Julie thanks for making me feel a little better about my girl in guam. She is adjusting very well I think and yesterday she bought a new car. lol Yeah she bought a 2010 Toyota Yaris so I think she is doing good.
Nates mom, were you nervous about the tsunami. I stayed up all night watching the news. I couldn't believe it was happening. Thank God it missed them. Shelby always gets mad when I ask her if she knows someone by their first name. She says she mostly only knows last names. lol I would love to go over there before the end of the year. Just have to save some money. I hope all of you sailor moms and your sailors are doing great and are happy. As long as our sailors are safe, right? :)
Hi Shelby's Mom
My son knows exactly who Shelby is. They are in different department so he really doesn't interact with her. He still doesn't know when he may be able to come home, but I'll certainly be there when it's so cold here! I sort of think it would best for him to stay the first year to make sure that he is established and his Command gets to know his character and such, but I know he will be home before then. I'm just his mom --- what do I know? :-P Besides, there is a wedding to plan for that has a date still up in the air, because WE DON'T KNOW WHEN HE CAN COME HOME!!!! A little frustrating. It must be a "real" wedding and not in the courthouse. Mom's have dreams of their sons getting married too, not just daughters.
Hello ladies,
I'm so happy! My husband and I have just arrived in SC. We are just a few miles from the Naval base and will see Aaron in just a few short hours. He's due to phase up today so we are hoping he'll be free to spend lots of time with us. I hope all of you will get to visit with your sailors soon. Dodie, we have Aaron's truck with us with his golf clubs are on board. Maybe they can get together on the links. Sherri, I hope it gets better for your son. Aaron's not thrilled but he does sound better than he did earlier.
