Dear Proud to be As mom - I think the issue is they have nothing really to do until they check in to school - my Son is in the same boat just in limbo right now. I sent his phone off today - he called last night with new address and said it may be changing yet again. But he sounded real board and doing cleaning and stuff to stay busy - hope he cheers up! How long will she be in GL? Mine will be there until May - then off to who knows where - and congrats to all the Mothers Fathers and of course our Sailors!

It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one who had a hard time saying goodbye on sunday night. I actually thought it was harder than when he left for BC. I think before I just did not know what to expect. For some unknown reason I was thinking that he would be able to call like once a week and talk during bc. So when I dropped him this time it just felt worse. I cried for a long time. However I am so proud that he did this, I think the tears are a combination of sadness and pride. I also hope that we can all stay in touch here, everyone has been so great. Good luck all.

Jacob called 5:30 this morning he was at the airport on his way to San Antonio for A school. Once I get a address I will ship him his stuff then he will have his phone again. Its hard to be a mom sometimes when we have to let them grow up and leave. I have six of them but the others have stayed around here. With one more in school yet.

sherri- Hope 12/3 PIR moms stay in touch on here. I have often thought about who I will talk to when she is at A school about my worries, fears and what a proud mom I am.

proudksmom, I have trouble with the 6 year commitment too, and I've known about that for months! And who knows if they decide to re-up after that! Don't they know they are killing us??? Guess we gotta grow up & let go too...meanwhile, I'm just gonna take it one step at a time...

Her leaving for BC was very hard but she gave me a quick hug and was out the door, no tears. Im sure she knew if she cried it would be so much harder on me so she stayed strong. At least I knew I would see her in 8 wks but know I have no idea when I will see her again and that kills me!! She also dropped the bomb on me that she is 6 active and 2 non active...thought I MIGHT be able to handle 4 yrs.....but definately NOT 6!!!
