I already am making my packing list..I cant wait either. I am so glad you girls share so much information it has really helped more than you can imagine. Lets all pray for nice weather, NO snow storms.

Diannep - I wrote a letter to him today about calling cells, hopefully he gets it before thanksgiving, he told his girlfriend that he has written a lot more letters than we have gotten and it seems like he hasnt got all of ours either, so we will see. thanks for the information I really appreciate it.

In answer to the Thanksgiving call post, my son was there during Thanksgiving and Christmas last year. He did get to call on Thanksgiving, but I can't say that all do get to call. His RDC's just allowed them to make a quick call (and I mean just a couple of minutes long) home when they marched to the NEX. No call on Christmas though....so again, random. Nothing written in stone....so just be ready just in case.

momclf: I would go about your day on Thanksgiving, but can you tell the gf to please have him call your cell phone if he calls her first? Or maybe write him a letter telling him that? Just in case you had plans outside of your home on Thanksgiving Day.

mmclf - Hang in there - I have received the 2 calls but only 1 letter from mine. remember keep your chin up and the next 2 weeks will go fast! It is driving me crazy as well not knowing how he is doing but keeping mind on other things helps.

Thank you. You cant imagine how schmucky I feel, cried for an hour when I missed the second one. What angers me is that we (dad, sister & I) all have cell phones he could have called since he has a phone card, but instead calls the girlfriend. Just commented to a friend, I wiped his butt for gosh sakes, her reply, well she pats it, lol. Like the girlfriend and all, just upset that I havent been able to talk with him, and I have only received 2 very short letters. These next couple of weeks cant go fast enough.

momclf: Awh that is so sad! I missed the first call it was depressing i don't know how sad you must feel. (sry don't mean to make you sadder) haha but i have like a 85% feeling that they may be able to call on Thanksgiving...

This has nothing to do with the other posts, but not sure where else to ask. Does anyone think that our recruits will be allowed to call on thanksgiving? I really hope so, I have missed his 2 calls, I wasnt home so he called his girlfriend instead. But if we are possibly getting calls on thanksgiving I am not leaving my house.

cadams: To add to what Emily said, bring some "comfy clothes" for your recruit to wear in the hotel room after PIR. They can wear them in there, just not outside the room in public. Once on base, it is Navy-issued clothing only until they are phased up.

Question??? Does anyone know if we should take our recruits any of their civilian clothes (jean, shirts, shoes etc.) to GL with us? Are they going to be able to use any of this after BC or will they be made to wear Navy all the time. My SR is going to school in GL.
