OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Beachmomblue, the Keel is like their yearbook.
Bdmom64, Isn't this the most wonderful day?! I can't believe how incredible it feels to have my son so close after two months of feeling like he was a million miles away! So proud of him for all he has accomplished and overcome. Proud Navy Mom!!

What a fabulous day!! I'm so proud of my son and his accomplishments during boot camp. I hope everyone else had a great day with their new sailors. Happy New Year!!

Happy PIR Day!  Enjoy!

Beachmomblue:  If your sailor did not order the piks, you can do that after PIR in the Photo Lab there by the NEX.

I forgot about the pictures, how do I order them.

Thanks diannep. I feel like we missed out on a precious memory. I am sure tomorrow will make up for it though. I'm very excited and I can't wait! :)

So sorry, ladies, that some of you will be going to PIR tomorrow without hearing from your sailors. This does happen...especially when they finish Battlestatiobs the day before PIR. Hopefully all will be fine tomorrow.

Terribly frustrating and causes a lot of anxiety... I too wonder if this is normal or were just lucky like this... First PFA delayed now no call...
Comment by bdmom64 on December 30, 2015 at 10:58pm
I wonder if the no calls are new with us or if this has happened before. I'm assuming everything is fine, I guess. It is frustrating, though.
