N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Praying for you and your son Mamasboy96 ! I can't imagine having 15 weeks of recovery plus another 4 weeks of bc...are you allowed to go up for Christmas???

Comment by Mamasboy96 on December 7, 2015 at 12:18pm
The Sunday before Thanksgiving my SR slipped on ice and sprained his ankle. After 6 days of light duty they moved him to RCU. When he initially called he said recovery was 4 stages and could last up to 4 weeks, maybe longer. When he called this past weekend and said by his calculations he had 15 weeks of recovery And then 4 more weeks of boot camp. I'm not sure where he got that info since he hasn't been back to the doctor since he was sent there last Monday.. He is so down, and so am I. I'm hoping someone just gave him the wrong information and when he goes to the doctor on the 10th he will get good news, and it won't be as much time as what he is calculating. He was supposed to have PIR on 12/31

Beachmom:  Thanks for the reminder on checking all discounts.  We used our AAA rate also when there.

Good Morning!

swiffer,

Yes, the other grandparent could go to the Chapel, but if they are computer savvy at all, they might be more comfortable in the hotel room with refreshments available (and warm jammies and a bed to wait around in).. There won't be any refreshments available in the Chapel and I don't believe you can bring your own in either~~

FTLW will put up a discussion topic and link to the RTC's Note about extra guests soon.  Please read both before you decide about where your extra guest would be most comfortable.

Diannep. Can you explain again about an extra going to the chapel for PIR. Would this work for if we brought both grand parents but only one was on our celebration PIR hall list and then the other would go to the chapel? Is that how I understood this?

I'm booked with Spring Hills Suites.  I called direct & got the graduation rate but with the holiday and length we are staying got a better rate on line with my AAA discount so it's good to check all your options.

Comment by Leanna on December 6, 2015 at 11:21pm
If someone in your group is a senior citizen, Spring Hills Suites gives a bigger discount than the graduation rate.
Comment by diannep on December 6, 2015 at 10:54pm
Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express. Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation rate. These are 4 to 5 miles from base and close to Sarges MeetandGreet.

Any one know where else to stay for PIR on 12/31/15, have other family planning on coming and Navy lodge has no rooms left.
