"body snatchers" roflmao :D

Okay, I understand how that works, but the name; all it makes me think about is Invasion of the Body Snatchers!

I was sitting here during naptime & probably woke half the kids up when I started laughing hysterically!

That really made my day :D

The 900 divisions are the preforming divisions but there are other jobs to do there as well. Some will be greeters and some will be body snatchers at PIR. The greeters greet people and show them where to go. The body snatchers walk up and down the rows of sailors and look for those who may be about to faint. They try to catch them and then help or drag them to the back. The sailors have to stand in one place without moving for a very long time and if they lock their knees it cuts off the blood flow and can cause them to faint.

SeabeeWifeDawn, it looks like your hub and my son are in the same ship/div!

Craig- I have an answer for your question about the heads. All the bathrooms on the different ships at boot camp have urinals in them. A ship may house an all male division for a specific PIR date but the next group to use that ship may have a male/female division. They change all the time. So yes all the bathrooms have urinals and they must still be cleaned by the recruits each day. According to my sailor it is a pain because they have a sensor on them and every time you clean them they keep flushing over and over lol. And she also said "Where in the world do those moms come up with these questions" lol So I explained that to her :)

Ok, now that I finished reading the letter, hubs is in ship 2 div 918.

I am a little confused by this though, aren't the 900 divisions the performance divisions?  I'm not really sure that's where he belongs.

uofflgrad, just keep sending him encouragement, my dad keeps saying they (the RDCs) can make your life miserable but at least they can't kill you!  Dad's last duty before he retired 30+ years ago was as a company commander at RTC.  He was really loving ordering hubs around before he left, I think it brought back fond memories! lol

True, LovinMa:  Children 12 and under don't count as part of the 4.  Lala's suggestion is great...to put the adult names in the 4 spots and list the children on the side.  Remember, the children still need ID...birth certificate or social security card.  Over 12 need photo ID.  Refer to your form letter for details.

I got the form letter today. It was wonderful just seeing his handwriting on the envelope. Ship 02 DIV 918  When he shipped out there were four others that flew with him. We saw them off at the airport and would love to send them a note.  Is there a way for me to be able to send them a letter?
Comment by diannep on January 27, 2011 at 4:16pm
Yes, uoflgrad:  K-town is right.  It isn't until about the 4th week of training that it starts getting lots better for them...they start experiencing success and they feel encouraged. So don't worry about the "I hate it" comments now...very common at this point...I worry more about the ones who say they absolutely LOVE it at this stage...I think those saying it just don't want their loved ones to worry!  :-)

I haven't even read the letter yet, I was just so excited I had to post, I'll let you know soon what his ship/div are!
