Yes you are able to send those items. I read that on the RTC website. I sent my husband a calling card too just in case he needs one.

Guess what???  I got my letter today.....WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! <doing the happy letter dance> Haha. She mailed it on Mon., 24 Jan. and it arrived here in Florida today, 26 Jan. It had alot of information, as well as a little note at the end of it. Her graduation date is 18 March 2011.

Now I can finally start mailing the stack of letters we have been writing since the day she left. One Question though....what size envelops are best to send our SR? The small one or the business letter size? Before I start addressing the wrong size envelops, I will wait for someone's advice.

Now, everyone needs to go either check their mailbox or go and attack (friendly of course) their mail carriers.

Beth - To answer your other question.  They will never walk in the middle. That are is for sailors.  Until they become sailors, they are just scum...~ha

This same thing works for the tables, and even certain trash cans.  You will have a nice shiney trash can that is polished each day, yet it has never had trash in it, EVER.  They are teaching the kids disipline, and even though some things don't make sense, they are doing it for a pupose.

Yes, everyone gets to know everyone else.  Your bunkmate (seperate racks)...Wait maybe with them getting rid of "Don't ask, Don't tell" they can now sleep together in the same rack...~ha

One last thing, make sure your sailors don't come up with the stupid remark by telling their RDC's that after boot camp they want to make them friends on Facebook.  The RDC are not their friends, and they never will be.  They are professional pushing boots thru boot camp.  I had one of my deppers tell me that someone said that in boot camp and he said the RDC's just went off on them....

Beth -

Just to add the Hannah's post...

- Each ship is three-stories.

- Roughly 172,000 sq. ft.

- It consists of 12 sleeping compartments-four on each floor

- 1056 recruits each (88 per division).

- It has a dining and galley facilities and integrated training classrooms.

- Each sleep compartment has an accompanying toilet and shower facility.

Now my question for those that have female recruits going through boot camp:

To keep the deppers I'm working with interested, I always post weird facts/trivia.  Here is a question I need answered...

1.  All the ships at GL were contracted together, so all of them were built exactly the same.  So when a female division is formed, do they have urinal in their bathrooms (heads)?  If so do they have plastic around them, so trash isn't put in them?  The reason I ask, is when I went to bootcamp in Orlando, the female RDC would put plants in them, and they would have a designate sailor who's duty was to flush those urinals everyday, to water the plants.  Those with females, please ask them in you next letter/phone call....

Beth: Usually there are between 70-88 recruits in a division, and there were 10 divisions in my ship when I was there.  You don't earn the right to walk in the middle of the passageway until you've earned your navy ball cap, and by then you don't even do it b/c you're so used to walking on the outboard.  Your division does have some time to get to know each other, and you do talk with your friends but it can get you in trouble sometimes lol, I remember when my friend and I were talking during training time we got our asses beat bad, but we learned our lesson about talkin during training time lol.  All your recruits are fine I promise, and they 8 weeks of training isn't exactly accurate, b/c we graduated on 7-5 DOT, so they won't start week 2 of training until they start their third week at RTC, I know its confusing, as soon as I get a letter from my fiancee I'll be able to give you a better idea of what they're doin day to day.

Beth, I am sure everything is fine, you know what they say No news is good news lol. I hate that because we all want to hear from our sailors :)
