Hannah'sSailor:  Ok, the 8/13 PIR group was one of the ones I started so I got to know the ladies on there (my son had already graduated, so I didn't get to meet them in person).  Was Hannah or your mom on the site then?  Just curious!  Neat to hear from a sailor that we prayed for and were rooting for in the 8/13 group!  Congrats!

Hannahssailor thanks for the info. We are both crossing our fingers that he gets to stay on the west coast.... but we will see. Is ft on both fast attack and boomers subs? I hear so many different stories.... some say boomers are better for married guys because they are more set with a schedule. Then some say fast attack because deployments are shorter? Any thought? Once you are given a rate and go through school how is your sub picked? Based need? Congrats on the pipeline program. Is that how you made E3?

Oh ET Radio, A school is 6 months so those guys are here the longest.

I've been here in Groton for 5 months and have only 4 1/2 left. FT, STS, and ET NAV, A schools are all 4 1/2 months, there are 3 other schools that must be completed first BESS, ATT, and TCNO. (Basic Enlisted Sub School, Apprenticeship Technical Training, and Tactical Computer Network Operator.) When he arrives he will be given a "Dream Sheet" to pick a rate, my rate changed the day before I started A school from STS to FT, so it won't be set in stone until he starts his A school.  I flew through the pipeline here, and will only be here a total of 9 1/2 months but some people spend a year here b/c of hold time between schools.  Its not too bad here its just cold.  I'm very ready to get my dolphins, and about the time Hannah gets out of boot we should be getting ready to make our port picks. Oh and FT is the best rate in the Navy so he should deff. put that down on his dream sheet lol.

Hannahssailor. Oops sorry I messed up your name! My husband is hoping for ft as well. Don't they have the longest schooling? Will you be in Groton the whole time? We are from southern California so Groton will be a huge change. I would love to hear all about sub school. How long have you been there? I bet you can't wait for your dolphins!!!

When I say rate I mean what is his job, like I'm gonna be an FT when I get out of my A school, and my rate will be FTSN b/c I'm E-3.
