Jessica B-I'm glad for my son that he will be out of boot camp sooner, but it feels a bit strange to be in the other group, where everyone has been in boot camp a week longer. And I'm a little concerned about how it's possible for him to get a "shortened" training period, especially since his job is pretty risky and I wouldn't want him to miss any vital training. Guess I just have to have faith that the Navy wouldn't want an under-trained recruit heading out for duty any more than I do.

mysteryfan- if your form letter says PIR is 3-11 then you will want to join that group and get to know the members in it who have SR's in your div and with the same PIR date. Feel free to stay in this group as well if you like. Here is the link to that group, I hope it works :)  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir31111

If you have received the form letter it will have the graduation date on it as well as the division your recruit is in. These are the divisions for 3-11, there will be 13 Divisions (091–102 & 917) Graduate Friday, March 11, 2011. The divisions for 3-18 have not been posted yet. But should be this week. Maybe even by tomorrow.

Thanks, diannep for the info on GradNGo! I also got my letter today, showing 03/11/11 as the PIR date. Does this mean we need to change to a different group? I hope not-unless we all move together.

When do we get a firm date for the PIR? I know it can be different for individuals  if they still have tests to pass, but is there a deadline for announcing the final date for the group as a whole?

My son plays guitar--has since 3rd grade. Though I doubt that's what he will be doing while marching. I'm so EXCITED to see a box and have his address. :)

Junebug is your son a musician?  My son played the double bass throughout school but after he graduated from highschool  two years ago didnt play   I wonder what he'll do there  plus you really can't march with a double bass :)
