ditto here also!  Although today Im am swamped with issues   Im a IT tech and lots of phone calls today!   which is keeping me somewhat busy  but Im biting people's heads off   I did just get a voicemail message from one of my folks who was thanking me for my son's and my service...brought tears to my eyes   Glad I let that go to voice mail

I think tomorrow will be harder as Im not working tomorrow  maybe I'll go join that gym, get my hair cut or maybe go to a movie?

uoflgrad68  when did your son arrive in Great Lakes   trying to figure out if I'll have a box this weekend?

Alright Diannep who are you calling old lol. I am definitely old and like a lot of other "old" people I so hope to retire to southern FL one of these days. LOL. I am coming down there for vacation this summer, Going to stay at a house in Key Colony for 2 weeks and do some snorkeling, fishing, lobstering, boating, and toasting in the sun of course :)

Personal letters from your recruits could start arriving in your mailboxes about 3 weeks after the recruits have left...if you are lucky, maybe a couple of days earlier!  They can only write on Sundays in the beginning.

The form letter is not all handwritten.  It is printed with a place for him to write in his PIR date and address...and then he has 4 lines at the bottom to write to you.  But you may notice how NEAT their handwriting is...if they normally are messy handwriters.  I was blown away by my son's letters and the neatness.  I never asked him why...but they must have been told that if they don't write nice and neat on the envelopes/letters, they would be thrown in the trash!  HA!

Ok, the letters usually arrive between a week and 2 weeks after they leave.  Keep it in a safe place because it will have your password in it...you will need this to download the gate pass at the end of bc.

Diannep: Thanks for the advice. The recruiter just called and said that it is not posted yet. He thinks it will be up on the site on Monday or Tuesday. How long before I get my son's handwritten letter?

uoflgrad:  If you use the recruiter's address, be sure to check it with the form letter address (the one written in your recruit's handwriting) when you get it.  That is the correct one...sometimes the recruiter's address is not totally correct, but the letters will still get there.

terrijeann:  When my son was there this time last year, he said even when they are outside, they are very warm from all that they have to put on.  They even have face maks, like Lala said, that keep them totally covered. They do have to shovel snow sometimes.  He said it sometimes was so deep, they couldn't march. We live in S. Florida so my son certainly wasn't used to this either!  But they adapt to what they need to...remember...they are YOUNG!  We old people have a harder time!  :-)
