29 more days and counting!!! The book I am reading Honor, Courage, Commitment...about Navy BC is great! I recommend it to everyone! It is really detailed and helps alot. I am sure things have changed since 2000 but it still helps.

no call yet - other than the quick one (5 mins) on the 7th; I'm hoping that we will get a call this weekend.

Our son would have left his clothes in his car as well, but then again he totalled his car a few months before he left. Since it was his third totalled car we were used to it.We figured he couldn't total a navy destroyer hence the navy decision...:)

It does feel good to get that call>>we will sleep better tonight..

my son is in Ship 3 DIV 137. We got our first call tonight and he was allowed 30 minutes. He sounds great.Doing well on everything but fell short on the run time .He sounded so mature it was a bit scary. I guess the navy way is working. He was assigned to be one of the 6 flag bearers and is a section leader so I guess that means he is doing well. when he said he can make his bed in less than a minute and scored a 5.0 on folding his clothes...his mother almost cried. It is great to finally here from him..

I don't know if I made it clear, the girl at church saw people get art. 15's and get dismissed out of BOOTCAMP. So, yes it does happen.

Yes, a girl at church just got a medical discharge out of bootcamp due to scoliosis. She SAW a few people in her division get Article 15's and then get dismissed. She said one was even for something so minor it seems astonishing. They are to have a buddy at ALL times, this person was caught out without a buddy, got the art 15, the got dismissed. This was last month, not at GL but anohter base but it DOES happen. They used to not dismiss with a first offense, but these days they do.

I totally understand. If you dont follow the rules, they don't want you. They have SSSOOOO many people coming in due to the economy that if you're not going to follow the rules they toss ya and get people who want to be there and do follow the rules.

For certain minor offenses, the military offers non judicial punishment – also known as NJP, Article 15, Captain’s Mast, Mast or Office Hours – rather than have these service members go to trial. Common offenses include:

Misuse of government computers (including using them for personal e-mail and watching pornography)
Fraternization
Unprofessional relationships
Military adultery
DUIs
Underage drinking
Cheating
I dont think anyone could get a article 15 in bootcamp

My son is ship 9 div 133 what is article 15

Knowing my son, I don't think that's it. I notice your son is not with mine. I've been reading about how aweful my son's division is, how several have been dismissed after receiving Article 15's. Maybe it's punishment to the whole division. I'm asking him in my next letter.

My son has written twice now about being hungry. He hasn't mentioned the quality of the food, just that he's not getting enough.

Someone told me they give all the recruits a certain amount of calories, to simulate MRE's I guess. My son is 6'3", so if your kid is shorter they're probably not as hungry as the tall kids.

I thought of sending him snacks but was told they commanders would eat it right in front of them, so don't send them! Or, they'd pass them out to everyone in the division, except him. It's not hear-say, I know people this has personally happened to.
