My son is on Ship 06 Division 919. No call yet other than "I'm here, love you". Received a short letter on the 10th...said as long as you do what you're told and keep your mouth shut, it should be fine. Since this is a performance division, they have practice as well as normal duties. He is part of the Honor Guard and will perform at 3 graduations...including the 26th.

Apparently graduation is 9am, so I've read anyway, with doors open at 7am.

Not a phone a call but I did get my first letter! He sounds as good as he can. CONGRATS on the phone call! He wrote it on the 12th and I got it on the 17th and we are in the Chicago area. So maybe out of towners will get their first letters tomorrow or the next day.

WOOHOO Patricks mom!! I am so glad that you got your phone call...that is wonderful!!! That must be so relieving to hear he is doing well!! Good for you and him!!
lewismom- I do write to him every single day....it helps me to write to him to know that he has lots of support. I always say its like calling him because it took forever for him to return phone calls....so I am used to it....lol!

Yes he and 88 other new recruits were sworn in at the game. It was awesome. They even had on Chicago Bulls / Navy 2010 sweats. We all wanted one! The sad part was that they delayed sending these boys to bootcamp for the swearing in so they marched them out during the third quarter(they didn't get to stay for the whole game) and by the time I got home after the game he had already made his one phone home. Before he left we agreed that he would write to his girlfriend and she would keep me up to date. There was one day he didn't write because he said all he could do was fall asleep cause he was so exhausted. As long as he is writing someone I think its good. Its probably alot to write to a several people when you are tired. Make sure you write him - even if he doesn't write!

Lewismom-Did your son get sworn in at the basketball game? It must have been an amazing experience if he did! It is hard on the families too you are right. This website and group does help a lot...because we keep in touch as to what is going on in the divisions. My mom got two letters from my brother...I have yet to get anything. And much like your sons letter...my brothers sounds the same. I was devestated when my brother left...and still get teary eyed at times..but now its more proud tears...for I know he is doing ok!

Montana - they graduate March 26th. My son's letter and box went to his dad's and they just sent me a copy of the letter yesterday. My son's girlfriend got actual letters from him yesterday. They had wings for the superbowl and have been marching in the snow and even while it was snowing. They took their swim tests. She said his letters had a sad tone in the beginning and they become more upbeat as time progressed. It was such a relief yesterday to know how he was actually doing. I hope you get a letter soon. I have decided bootcamp is as much for us as the kids - time to get us adjusted to their new lives and not being able to pick up the phone and find out how they are doing. I have gotten teary eyed every day.
