Hey Gang,  Just a thought, a friend of mine whose son grad Navy months ago said her group went to Walmart and bought the satin ribbon that comes on a roll in the sewing dept., and then just made a loop and pinned it in place, and wrote their division number going down the ribbon.  ( Like the shape of ribbon on the car magnets you would see with a yellow ribbon that says support the troops.)  That kind of loop.   Maybe instead of all of us looking for a hunter green blouse to wear, that would be really cheap....?   Also I just posted on the PIR 4/1 wall that I found a good websiteto print out crossword, wordsearch and soduko puzzles, PuzzleChoice.com  I got about 10 various ones printed out and will put in mail tomorrow so he can pass them around to the guys.  I am really looking forward to meeting all ya'all !  (In Texas ya'all is singular and all ya'all is plural)  haha
Mushell that sounds good, I think that might be easier for all of us, we are the largest group for our PIR.(Give yourselves a pat on the back LOL) I think that is what i will do. How about everyone else?? I think i will make sure i friend everyone and then i will send a message that this is what we might do instead of a piece of clothing. I will go this week, make one up and then maybe post a pic. And then no matter how many you are bringing to PIR you make that many. Sounds good, Mushell, you are so smart. There is a link on here that is woman sells ribbons, $5 each but they are blue , has your sailors name and division, but I think it would be better if we could make our own.
Hey Chrissy,  heres another thought on that.....I was thinking maybe a pushpin in the center to hold it where the ribbon comes together, like an American Flag (like President's wear on their suit lapel)  that kind of pin.  That way were using a pin without an open pointed side sticking out.  Then we could write with a sharpie marker Div 118 going down one side of the ribbon, and not really sure what to write going down the other side....our N4M user name....or our SR's last name....or....hmmmm  I dont know, any ideas?  I will head to Walmart tmrw, I assume they will have hunter green maybe 3/4 to 1 inch I was thinking.  I will post the color code I get off the ribbon.  Thanks, glad you liked my "cheapie" idea.  Take care,Michelle
That's a great idea!!! I like the loop ribbon AND the flag pin to hold it!!!  Chrissy thanks forposting a pic of it...Im not that crafty LOL and I can copy...that way I can make one for dad &grandparents coming too I can't wait to meet you all also...I look forward to getting on the site everyday and somehow it makes me feel closer to Tan to hear all you guys talking about them too. What a blessing!
Thanks Jodi for liking my idea :-)    I just had another thought, maybe one of those puffy pen writers to write our SR's last name (thanks Bren) and then our division on the flip side.  I was thinking the black sharpie marker might run or bleed (for lack of a better word) when we go to write on our ribbons.  Anyhow...a roll of hunter green ribbon .98 cents......a puffy pen to write their name/div $1.32.......watching our boys become Men and U.S. Sailors...Priceless!!!!   haha, I couldnt resist   Also, Jodi, I know what you mean about getting on this site and somehow feeling closer to our guys.  Where is Chrissy's picture, I cant seem to locate it...will keep looking
How did the puffy pen work.? Did you get a good prototype for me to copy?..  lol....

Haha hey Jodi, YES the whole thing worked beautiful.  So were all on the same page with this "cheapo" idea....I got 7/8 inch forest green cloth ribbed like ribbon, not the satin shiny one.  there was many shades of green at WM, but forest green seemed closest to hunter green.  Also 1 silver glitter puffy paint.  total cost $3!!!  The puffy stuff goes on like a piece of cake!!  super easy to write clearly and the silver shows up great on the green.  Last name on 1 side and div # on the other.  Is everybody in?????

I will post a pic soon
You lead and I will follow, Obi One!!

Did not recognize you Mushell you look a little green!!!!!

Love the ribbons!!!  Thanks for the Pic...so now I can delegate this task to my sister..she has been jonesing for something to contribute...yeah I love delegating!

Mushell I think the SR last name should be on the there side
I think the ribbon idea is great and rather easy to do.  I've been searching for some type of top and haven't be successful at all!  My thought for the ribbon is to have the SR name and ship/div on the first side and your relationship on the other (Mom Dad Girlfriend Aunt) and maybe their job (Nuke AD Corp)  under your name?  There are peel and stick letters that are inexpensive.  They will need to be silver since gold is reserverd for officers only.  Then maybe like Michelle said a pin at the loop.  Just a thought, what are other ideas?  We could do mums like high school girls (lol).
Hooyah, see my post above to Jodi....maybe a bit more simpler than what you had in mind....let us all know.  I did about a 13-14 inch strip of the green, made a loop and the paint is soooooo easy to write clearly and legible with.  The roll is 18 foot, so if multiple family members want to wear one, its very inexpensive.  Of course those that want to can elaborate on their ribbons and make them fancier.  Mine took minutes to make.  Take Care
