Hi candy!! My daughter Ashley is on this div.She left on 2/14 and will be graduating on 4/15....so happy to see your post:)
Luciana
Luciana, your post made me cry just hearing about someone else who is seeing my son every day...I was NOT expecting that reaction from myself!! My son, James Dean, left on the 14th, too (well, actually he left for Richmond on the 13th). I am so excited to have gotten a reply. I know our sailors will come to rely on each other so much. I had to go to the dentist today and told them the Dean had gone into the Navy; they dropped him from their patient list, which made me cry, too!!! Have you had a chance to make your reservations yet? We are trying to square away which grandparent is going to go with us...and then we will make ours. I am looking forward to keeping in touch.
Candy
Hi Candy, thank you! it's funny,I too was at the dentist today! I have to tell, this cyber stuff is so new to me,it's my first site i've joined and the first night I finally got approved it sucked me in for an insane about of hours, crying, getting much needed info. and feeling very supported...and just made me cry for 2 wks straight...I never thought I would feel so sad,but very proud at the same time...such h a huge wave of emotions! I started to make notes of hotels and pir day.the most helpful info was on PIRS FOR DUMMIES,I new nothing and felt so lost and panicky. The navy lodge sounds like the best rate and close to base,I thought you had to be military to stay there, I read thats not true, you can use your sailors name and they will honor it, so I went with residence inn in waukegan( not sure to spell it)about 3 miles away from base and rented a car,but most hotels have shuttle service.i read where someone used a coupon that was in the form letter( my daughter sent it to her bf) and saved a lot of money.
I cant wait to write my daughter ashley and tell her to say hello to James dean from me, cause I now his mama:) I got my daughters first personal letter today, yay!! and it made me so happy and proud...it truly melted my heart.
I look forward to hearing from you too!!....GO SHIP 09 DIV. 130!!!!;)
Luciana
Daggone it!!! Now I'm crying, too...because I know you are James Dean's mom as I am Ashley's. To know that there are people all over the world who feel like we do is extremely comforting to me!! I will check out the Navy Lodge. I bet it's majorly booked already but I know we will find somewhere. I'll look up PIR for Dummies although I have gotten a lot of info from this site. Isn't it great? I will write James Dean today and tell him to look after Ashley...I know they are learning to look after all of their division mates and keep everyone safe.
90/130!!!!
I'm so happy for you, yay!!!! I too wondered if Ashley has gotten any of mine.I got her address 72 hours after she left on 4/15 and sent calling card and stamps and not sure why so long to get to her??
Lots going on lately , went to a funeral today and it sank me into a very sad mental state. I know I will snap out of it,I just think of the strength and courage our kids have and can't help but be proud.
I wrote to Ashley and told her to say hello and thank you to your son James Dean.I sure hope they get our mail soon!! Thank you for getting back to me it put a smile on my face:)
Hope all is well with you and family too...Luciana
Hi, Luciana, where are yall staying for the PIR? I've looked at the Ramada, Hotel 6, and America's best. I wrote to James Dean today and told him about Ashley and told him that he had another mom. He said he didn't get my mail until like 2 weeks after they got there...it was obvious he got a bunch of letters all at one time.
I'm sorry your mental state is sad, and I'm sorry for your loss. Hope you feel better!!!
Candy
Hello. My fiance is a member of Ship 9 Division 130 and graduates April 15th! Cant wait! Hope you all are hanging in there! Its right around the corner!
Candy-oh stay positive thats the best way to help your son now. My son told me that battlestations is this thursday the 7th. Not sure about what you need to pass to participate in battlestations. I would think they would still go to battlestations cause it would make sense that if they pass that and then make up part they didn't do well in they may still grad. If he doesn't do battlestations then passes needed area he would have to wait to do battlestations. Remember battlestations is a team effort and everyone's heart needs to be in it to win it. Our young men will be there for each other. enjoyed hearing from you.
