The fuel prices are terrible and going to get much worse. I hate it because no one can afford $5.00 a gal for gas. It is crazy. I feel for all of you who will be driving to GL.

The news did say fares will be going up! I have been checking flights for about a month or so, before my son left & as soon as I noticed the rate went down I booked my flight. Overall I feel that I rcvd a good deal. We fly into Ohare & pick up rental car there. We are flying American Airlines, they charge $25 first bag so my husband & I are gng to pack on large bag for the both of us & do cary ons, we get two each.

Every little biit of change helps!

When I got the letter from my son, there was a brochure with accommodations, etc.  One ad was for www.mwrtravelplus.com.  A coworker with a military background was surprised that this is available to us.  She was used to making room reservations with MWR, but didn't realize they now do airline and car.  I've already made the Ramada reservation through them and got a great rate.  I'm waiting until Tuesday or Wednesday, when it's typically cheaper to book, before I reserve air fare.  I went to Southwest also and it was more than double from the MWR rate with United.  I just want to book soon - I'm worried with fuel prices soaring, that the air fare will go up quickly too.

Ilooked into southwest & it was $1800 for my husband & i. I looked into american airlines & it is going to cost us $550 for both of us. I took my chances & booked with american airlines. Also, when booking your hotel, inform them you are there for a naval grad, they may have additional discounts & they can refer you to a rental car place & they will also give you discounts too.

Ladies, just a quick tip about the airlines.  If you can fly Southwest from where you live, it's the best bet financially.  They do not charge for changed flights and also do not charge for the first two checked bags.  Another thing you might consider, is that sometimes it is less expensive to fly into Milwaukee, WI, instead of Chicago.  It's about a 50 minute drive from the airport to Great Lakes and it's also pretty much a straight shot down the interstate.

All domestric travel, there is a non-refundable fee of $150.00 fee plus any possible fare difference based on any changes made this is for United Airlines.

Don't let the travel insurance fool you!
