carol:  Sailor usually goes back free on shuttle with you.  Shuttles are available right after PIR by the front gate. We enjoyed the conversation we had with our driver on the way back (turned out just to be the 3 of us with him).  Many enjoy driving there with no issues...others enjoy the shuttle.  So just a matter of choice!  navymomship's advice is right on...you have to get in line early...

Just heard back from the RTC PAO and they told me that they do not fly the Sailors out on Friday... Usually Saturday or if tickets are not available then Sunday.... Whew.....

I was told the gates open at 6:30 but to get there at 6 am and the right lane is for work personell so stay left as long as you can before the gate.  With the gate pass you can drive all the way up.  You will need to make a few copies.  Make one for each time you need to get onto base.  Once for grad, one for dropping off and picking up each time you need to.  My husband wanted to take the shuttle but it's gonna be raining and I'm a baby.

Today's the packing day....I got lucky cause my boss is working for me today...I have to drive out and pick up my son's things he wanted.....30 minutes x 2 outta a busy day....and I have to find time to mow the lawns before I leave....as long as it's not raining....again....

I will be late in getting to the meet and greet....I hope I get to meet all you lovely ladies.....soooo excited !!! I don't think the grey skies today can dampen my enthusiasm!

Zacksmom:  I would be surprised if they are leaving Friday.  According to RTC, they don't ship sailors on PIR day anymore.  Sat. or Sun is more like it which would mean you at least have PIR day with him and Sat ---even if possibly at the airport.

Safe travel for those leaving today.  Get ready for a very very AWESOME experience at PIR.  Don't forget the kleenex!  HAPPY TEARS!

Zacksmom....if he's going to Pensacola...they'll be leaving starting 0000 saturday .....if you have things to give him, you'll have to pass them over at the airport.
